The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

This book is about a fish that has shiny rainbow scales. The fish is very arrogant because he looks nicer than all of the other fish. One day a fish asked him for one of his scales and he refused, so the other fish did not admire him anymore. He then visits an octopus who tells him to share his scales. He eventually decides to do so, and makes a lot of friends and is finally happy. I would use this to teach students that materialistic items are not necessary and that friendship is more important.

This book is about Max, a young boy who liked to pretend he was a wild thing. One night, he was disrespectful to his mother and was sent to his room without dinner. Suddenly, Max's room began to transform into a jungle and he began on his journey. He arrived the land of the Wild Things. There he was named their king. Despite being a king Max was lonely and wanted to be where he was loved. He decided to give up being a king and began his journey back home. There he found his dinner in his room. I would use this to teach students about respect and loving their parents.

This book is an inspirational story about the road of life. It shows a young boy taking off in his life. There are moments where is on top of the world and is the best at what he is doing and there are also moments where he gets knocked down. This book gives an important message about life, saying that it is not easy but you can succeed if you put your mind to it. This is a great reminder to people of all ages to never give up, I would use this book on the last day of school to read to my students to give them one last motivational message before they move on.

It goes on to show the cause and effect relationship between what happens when you give a mouse something, and what happens as a result. This would be a great story for teaching cause and effect. It overall is an entertaining story for young minds.
