I felt the slides during the self-directed learning and videos were very useful and easy to understand. The theory behind the self-management tools are quite clear but I am excited to get to do the practical aspect of applying these self management tools and learning from other peers their opinions on how to facilitate conversations with patients.

Going through the course material and this course was very timely as we see many covid patients that will benefit from learning and incorporating self-management skills into their daily activities to cope with SOB or desaturation. Some of these skills are very new to them and will take more than purely education and nagging for them to internalise these skills. So the slides and course was a very timely reminder of other tools that we can use to help our patients be more receptive to these essential self-management strategies

Mm, I thought the stats about elderly with chronic diseases and their perceptions on it was pretty interesting. Like wow, across all age groups with more than 3 chronic disease rated their health as fair - good. Is it really because they genuinely felt that well or was it a lack of self-awareness/insight towards their own condition? Given that the slides were talking about invisible disease

I think the videos were really useful in showing the comparison between education and self-mgt. Often we go into education mode quite automatically, but it seems that it would be good if we occluded at times stop and catch ourselves to see if that’s the approach we want versus getting the patients to self-mgt

I feel that there are a lot of details about self-management which is really good! However, Im also keen to find out which are the key takeaways for self-managements as currently there are a lot of theories or information eg. OARS, 4 step process, 5As, principles. Would like to know which are the main practical ones that we can use in our practice
