Scott Fitzgerald, follows the story of a man named Nick Carraway from the mid-west. One summer he decides to move to New York where he has a cousin from a wealthy family named Daisy who is married to an ex-polo player that goes by the name of Tom. A few days follow along and Nick receives an invitation from a mysterious man who lives right next to him who is known for throwing the biggest parties with the most influential and famous people. He then introduces himself to him as Jay Gatsby and along with the days unfolds to Nick a love story he had with his cousin Daisy 5 years ago.

 In The Great Gatsby, one of the main characters named Daisy Buchanan represented the idea of class, wealth and prosperity.

  The theme in the Great Gatsby, is that throughout all effort put into, the American Dream will stay remain untouched by whomever desires it.

From the moment when Wilson's wife, Myrtle started cheating on him with Tom his marriage had died and Wilson's struggle to leave the valley of ashes faded along with the color of their town. A few days later Wilson is devastated and is determined to find the culprit behind Myrtle's death, so he goes to Tom, who lies to him that he wasn't his paramour and tells him it was Gatsby.Infuriated and with nothing else to lose, Wilson heads to Gatsby's house in where he murders him with a gun to steps later kill himself.

The connection between Wilson's death and how the American Dream is an intangible fallacy is mostly based on how throughout the whole book it always said that Wilson was always working to please her wife, who took him for granted and was cheating on him, leading his to kill his "lover" to then kill himself,killing his struggle and dreams he'd worked for.

Throughout the whole book, Myrtle always gave a vibe that she never appreciated her husband, Wilson. Her only desire was to leave the Valley of Ashes and the opportunity for that was through Tom. In the last moments of her existence, it says how she tried to reach for something before dying. It is self-evident that she struggled to reach Tom who was ultimately her ticket to a fancy and wealthy lifestyle just like the one she's been desiring. Even after her death, Tom claimed to know who she was, this just made clear that even if Myrtle gave it all to reach her dream it would've never happened.

Myrtle's mistake was most likely that she thought she was Toms real lover, and that he would've left Daisy for her, because of this she aimed high to be her new wife, tolerated everything, the abusive behavior from Tom just to be happy. Oblivious to the fact that people born poor will never be able to live to the extent of how people born with money for generations have. This explains how both Tom and Daisy left Myrtle and Gatsby because they're not of their own class, and they look down on them not worrying about them and just doing themselves.

 Gatsby's dream was to be with Daisy and for her to accept that she never loved Tom. His dream drove him out of poverty through dirty work and optimism to be with Daisy eventually. This makes him wait for a call from her after Myrtle's death to run away together. This then gives the opportunity to Wilson to murder Gatsby. 
 
Gatsby live surrounded him knowing he was better than what he was born with, but it all eventually stopped hm from advancing after falling in love with Daisy and wanting her all to himself when from the very start she was never meant to be in Gatsby's life, but just add up to it. Years of work and dedication towards this one goal briefly ended after his death and proved again that happiness through the American Dream is impossible to grasp. " Daisy, that's all over now, it doesn't matter anymore. I believe it's because people are illusional, they dream and are all optimistic. It makes them fee like their struggle will someday pay off and are blind to anything else that defies this dream. I personally believe that people have always been dreamers. We desire more and we believe by working hard well eventually obtain it. People believe in Gods that have promised them eternal life to those who are good people, so those people will be the best they can to be, to be able to win themselves this dream. Another thing is that people don't want to live to be humble the whole time on Earth neither, they desire to go up, be rich, be worry free, basically being as careless as Tom and Daisy, where the money has made them humans with no regard towards other but themselves.Francis Scott Fitzgerald knew this, he wrote the story of Gatsby and made it seem like all his work, all the money, and all the fame would've made him happy. Gatsby was illusional and optimistic thinking that daisy would ever love him. He believed because he got new money that daisy would love him now because they were both wealthy, something that he didn't think would've been possibly back when they met because he was a poor guy with farmer parents.
