Here is a strength that I think Brian has - ability to think on his feet... Once he stays positive, WoW from his teacher, and he stops feeling sorry for himself, WoW that he remembers, he is able to think and apply things he knows. See how he used the money - we were able to predict that... keep looking to how Brian figures things out... he is so smart.

OH, so many character traits in this chapter, so many, and so much evidence to show how each one makes Brian, and how each charaacter trait will be necessary to survive. Think about a character trait you would assign to Brian - what would it be? What evidence shows it in these chatpters?

Brian does have the strength of staying positive and looking for good self confidence. Yes he is a smart kid with a good memory to keep his advice with him, from his teacher.

In chapter 9 he shows determination to create a fire with what he has, he keeps trying other things and is wondering how man did it in the wild. He also has perseverance in chapter 10 to keep the fire that he worked so hard to get going, going. I think a character trait I would give him would be to stay positive and not think about the bad things and the secret all the time. I would give that to him because if he stays positive it will make his life a hole lot easier and he wouldn't have to think and worry about it so much. Another character trait Brian has in chapter 10 is hope he has to hope for the searchers to come looking for him and find him and if he doesn't care and forgets about them he'll be out in the wild forever.

Brian was really close to making fire. Eventually he finally made fire, after he made fire, he stayed there and kept adding sticks and bark to make sure that the fire didn't die out. Or else he would have to go through all of that again. It took him over 2 hours to finally make fire. Brian was out to take a drink from the lake when he found eggs. He knew that they were turtle eggs because he read a book about it. He didn't have a flat surface to cook the eggs on so he just ate 6 of the 17 eggs, saving the rest for later.
