The Church sees the miracle at Cana as a “confirmation of the goodness of marriage” (CCC 1613). But there is also a connection to baptism, for the jars used in the miracle were for ceremonial washings, for ritual purification from defilement. In the waters of baptism, we are cleansed by God’s grace and transformed by his power. Through baptism we become members of the Church, the bride of Christ, and are invited to partake of the blood of the bridegroom (CCC 1335).

Hilario, Dianne Nicole N.
1A18

The Significance of Wedding at Cana to the Sacrament of Marriage:
A wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus was there present together with his mother and disciples. The significance of this event shows how man and woman exchange vows before God and the community that they are united with their bond of love. It is written in the Bible, "That is why a man shall leave his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh". In relation with the sacrament of matrimony, this event is about marriage being a sign which reveals Jesus' divine life and love. In the wedding, people ran out of wine and it would be a great humiliation for both the bride and the groom. The turning of water into wine taught us that through this miracle, Jesus revealed his glory. Also, God’s love becomes present to the spouses in their sacred union through both the family and community.

Its Implication to my Own Family:
The implication of the wedding at cana would be marriage that is made possible by God. He is interested in every aspect of our life and what matters to us, matters to him. In my family, we believe that Jesus has supernatural control over things and nothing is impossible with him. I have also proved this since I can see his guidance and control over my own family and community. God is important to be at the center of our family because of the spiritual aspect that members can see love, companionship and forgiveness. All the miracles and good happenings in our lives is because of God. The wedding that took place at Cana in Galilee is telling us that if we have full of trust in God, He will bring us unlimited joy in our lives.
