Apart from internal economic problems, Japan also faced problems of overpopulation. As the population grew larger , the demand for housing, goods and products also increased. This problem fed Japan's growing expansionist ambitions, as occupation of more territories meant access to more resources and resettlement of japanese into other countries would resolve their overpopulation problem. For example, many Japanese were resettled in Manchuria to resolve the problem of overpopulation

The political climate in japan was becoming unstable due to the rising militarism. The military powers were trying to gain more power in the government and the nationalist were also fighting for the power. In that period of time, assassinations and coups were carried out. Prime minister Tsuyoshi Inukai was assassinated and the parliamentary rule ended, Martial law was declared. The military then took up major roles in the government under the new minister admiral Makoto Saito.
Militaristic ideas began to drive the governments actions. This was due to japan looking outwards for solutions to their economic and social crises.

Japan's expansionist foreign policy was where Japan wanted to expand and invade other countries as they were running out of resources and land. Japan's aggressive expansionist policy came into conflict with the western powers as japan was liberating the southeast asian colonies from the western countries many saw this as a step towards independence as they were discontented with colonial rule. The countries they chose to invade were under the control of the European countries. Hence, leading to tension and the break out of word war two. Not only that, Japan had to import resources such as oil from other countries, the Great depression led to to several restrictive trading practices which made trading more difficult in achieving raw materials.

The second Sino-Japanese war started by a conflict that broke out when China began a full scale resistance to the expansion of Japanese influence in its territory. The war ,which remained undeclared until December 9, 1941, may be divided into three phases: a period of rapid japanese advance until the end of 1938, a period of virtual stalemate until 1944, and the final period when the allied counterattacks, principally in the Pacific and on Japan's surrender.
For much of the early 20th century, Japan had exercised effective control of Manchuria, Initially through the terms of the twenty-one demands and later through its support of Chinese warlord Zhang Zuolin. However, a serious conflict was developing, and the Chinese in Manchuria were especially restive under the privileges held by the Japanese. Chinese citizens formed the vast majority of the population, and the legal title of the region was held by China. Yet Japan controlled much of south Manchuria through its railways and its leasehold on the Liaodong Peninsula and in other ways that compromised Chinese sovereignty. Therefore, These conflicts also led to the start of World War 2 in the Asia-Pacific. Also Japan began to look outwards for solutions to their economic and social crises. So they expanded to other countries and militaristic ideas began to drive the government's actions.

This provided a perfect opportunity for the Japanese to invade the Asia-Pacific countries without much resistance from the Western Powers.

There were a shortage of land, food and a rapid population growth such as shortage of rice which were worsened by traditional farming methods. In 1900, Japan's population jumped from 45 million to 64 million in 1930. Rice was Japan's staple food, however the agricultural land was already fully exploited. There were years when Japan did not have enough rice to feed it's people. The great depression also affected Japan's economy, other countries such as Britain and USA began to protect their own economies from external imports. Japan was unable to export their products to other countries and caused economic depression in Japan. Japan began to look outward for solution to their economic and social crisis , such as expanding into other countries and also their militaristic ideas began to drive the governments actions, therefore economic crisis in Japan contributed to the outbreak of world war II in Asian Pacific.

For example, many Japanese were resettled in Manchuria to resolve the problem of overpopulation.which resulted in japan going to war to look outwards for solutions to their economic and social crisis by expanding into other countries. Therefore this encourage japan to begin expanding to solve their internal crisis.

This was due to japan looking outwards for solutions to their economic and social crises by expanding and conquering other lands. Japan invaded other countries and claimed it as their own, to solve their internal problems. This caused the outbreak of world war 2 in asia pacific

Japan's expansionist foreign policy was where Japan wanted to expand and invade other countries as they were running out of resources such as land and oil. Japan's aggressive expansionist policy came into conflict with the western powers as japan was liberating the southeast Asian colonies from the western countries many saw this as a step towards independence as they were discontented with colonial rule. Japan promised to create an "Asia for Asians" and remove the European influence from Asia, the countries they chose to invade were under the control of the European countries. Hence, leading to tension and the break out of world war two. Not only that, Japan had to import resources such as oil from other countries, the Great depression led to to several restrictive trading practices which made trading more difficult in achieving raw materials, this shows that they were running out of resources.

The second Sino-Japanese war started by a conflict that broke out when China began a full scale resistance to the expansion of Japanese influence in its territory. The war ,which remained undeclared until December 9, 1941, may be divided into three phases: a period of rapid japanese advance until the end of 1938, a period of virtual stalemate until 1944, and the final period when the allied counterattacks, principally in the Pacific and on Japan's surrender.Japan began to look outwards for solutions to their economic and social crises.
So they expanded to other countries and militaristic ideas began to drive the government's actions. The League of Nations, which was supposed to stop aggressive countries, failed to stop Japan and They could continue her aggressive policy without hindrance. This caused the Japanese to be more motivated in expanding their country. Therefore, The conflicts stated above led to the start of World War 2 in the Asia-Pacific.
