Ruppy is short for Ruby puppy. He is the first trans genetic dog who happens to be transgenic. His transgenic comes from a certain gene in a Sea Anemone. Ruppy is now a GMO. A GMO stands for a genetic modified organism such as a plant, animal, or any other organism that is genetically modified in a laboratory.

He was made to be an example of how this would effect human diseases and now encourages the growth of testing other genes within cloned dogs. He was also born in 2005.

The scientist are super affected by his creating because it shows that they are able to use the same technique they used to make him florescent, to maybe try other things.

Ruppy was made when a lab started out by,"first infecting dog fibroblast cells with a virus that inserted the fluorescent gene into a cell's nucleus. They then transferred the fibroblast's nucleus to another dog's egg cell, with its nucleus removed." So the next step would be to help grow the puppies within the lab making sure they actually grow (There was numerous attempts before but the emboss were never strong enough to survive).
