1. Snufkin finds a file with two open plane tickets. He finds it somewhere in the desert.

2.Snufkin and Moomintroll fly to Poland. The plane runs out of petrol on the way. They do a parachute jump and winds takes them to Purda.

3.They meet new friends in school, get familiar with Polish traditions and customs, learn the language.

4.After a week Snufkin and Moomintroll go back to Moomin Valley and tell their adventure to their friends and family.

Hobgoblin's hat: sth can be thrown into it, i.e. a broken bulb, because someone wants to fix it that way; but it doesn't work; + a bonus: a new characters comes out;
Snorkmaiden's brother understands the problem and finds out the solution;
If somene panics, Moominmamma can comfort them;
Sniff thinks that there is no electricity in Moomin Valley because someone invades it to rob (steal) Sniff's (not)valuable things (belongings);
Snufkin has heard about similar energy crisis recently on other side of the Lonely Mountains;
Hattiffattiners have their company, they run a business; they have a poster

Nowy w Dolinie Muminków

Do doliny muminków trafia kapsuła. Muminki i mała Mi myślą, że to jajko jakiegoś stworzenia. Lecz gdy znajdują z tyłu malutki guzik i mała Mi jak to ona ciekawska osoba klika go "jajko" się otwiera, a w nim.... jakby muminek ale jakiś inny ma dłuższe nogi długie włosy splątane w warkocz i czerwoną sukienkę w kwiaty. Gdy próbują z nim rozmawiać nie do końca im się udaje, bo mówi w innym języku. Muminki i mała Mi biorą go do swojego domu a w nim próbują go nauczyć swojego języka.

Po czasie powoli zaczynają się rozumieć. Uczą się od siebie zwyczajów, nowych potraw, zabaw. Bardzo się zaprzyjaźniają lecz rok po przyjeździe "Nowego" - tak mówili na niego mieszkańcy Doliny Muminków, przyjeżdżają po niego podobne istoty do "Nowego" wyjaśniają, że "Nowy" pochodzi z odległej gwiazdy i przez przypadek trafił do Doliny Muminków. Musi wrócić, ponieważ jego rodzina i przyjaciele potrzebują go, by pomógł odnaleźć drogę do ich domu.

Pożegnanie jest bardzo, bardzo trudne. Ale "Nowy" obieca, że kiedyś ich jeszcze odwiedzi, to podnosi wszystkich na duchu. Muminki bardzo ciekawi jak to jest mieszkać na innych planetach... może kiedyś uda im się to sprawdzić.

genealogical research

The Moomin family has made a genealogical research and has found out that they have ancestors in Karvia and one family line reaches as far away as to the coast of Poland. One greatgreatgreatgrandfather has been a captain in a ship which has sailed in the Baltic Sea and when in land the captain has lived somewhere in Poland. This all is so amazing news for the Moomins that they want to get acquainted with the distant relatives in Poland. They want to have a family reunion in Karvia in May and invite the relatives here.
in Karvia on-site in May we could film what happens when the distant Polish relatives (= Polish pupils) meet members of the Finnish Moomin family (= our 7th graders). How do they search their family roots in actual places in Karvia, what do they find out (horrible stories, criminal things, glory and fame, adventures?)
In this format we could create some background for the Moomins and use other school subjects like history and geography in our work. We could link the Finnish Moomin characters in an imaginative way to Poland, to the Baltic Sea which shores we share and maybe to the Hanseatic League and its prosperous time for Poland. The Polish pupils could negotiate with the pupils in Karvia which Moomin characters they would like to ”act” in the filming. Some of them could act in the roles of the distant Polish relatives and in this task they can modify the characters a bit (they are distant relatives so they might look a bit different or their characters could have names which have connections to Poland. Maybe a nickname? Here the Polish pupils are crucial because they can bring their own language to the joint purpose and at the same time teach us Finns a few polish words). Some pupils could take the roles of the original Moomin characters. The language we all use is English, so it doesn’t matter which role or position you take.
The spring time in May can offer us good possibilities for acting and filming also outdoors. There are several places and sights in Karvia which we could use as scenes in our play.
