Seeing that ranking hit hard — not because I didn’t know we had work to do (Our Maryland Report Card Data aligns with this report), but because I know how many of us are working. It made me think about how I can better connect what we’re doing every day to the bigger picture. Trying to figure out where I need to lead differently, communicate more clearly, or remove barriers that are getting in the way. My job is to make sure we’re not just reflecting — but actually moving.

I was not aware of our school's ranking. The data pushes me to reflect on how well I am delivering instruction to our multilingual learners (ELD students) especially when it concerns particular reading and writing tasks. On the non-instructional side, I need to make more efforts to learn more information about how a student's home life positively or negatively impacts their overall learning.

Personally,

I think we all work diligently and tirelessly to engage, support, and uplift our students academically and socially. This does not mean that we as instructors shouldn't make every effort to enhance our craft but it takes all stakeholders to do their part in regard to student success. I will continue to work tirelessly to help our students.

I'm disappointed by the data, but not surprised. I really need to reflect on if my traditional teaching methods are still valid and if there is a better way to teach today's generation of students who grew up 100% in a digital space and whose attention spans have seemingly decreased each year. Also, I need to look into ways to teach with the understanding that students are now using AI to complete assignments.

Our population is 85% economically disadvantaged, this is one of the major reasons why our students performance ldoes not look very good. As educators, we cannot stop buidling relations with students and family and motivating the students by showing them the possibilities that a good education can offer them.

I am naturally a very competitive person, so my senses were already intrigued, but it's deeper than winning. Many of our students are not able to read proficiently. I feel like I'm developing in Geometry and I'm apart of the most aggressive department in the school, we're growing and learning on that side. I need to be more of an influencer. Encouraging these students to push harder.

Seeing this ranking is tough because I know students that are working to obtain higher gpa's for an opportunity to go to college. This community may have it tropes but its hope here at Fairmount Heights High School our students just need a opportunity to show.

Data tends to lag. On the positive side, I believe we are doing a lot of great work to move our school's report toward improvement. I think shorter class periods would help reduce learning loss and instructional burnout (for teachers and students). Many of our students do not have the academic stamina to be in class for 80 productive minutes. I am working to support the scheduling process to at least make our 80-minute block courses more efficient. The reading and science proficiency rates are not consistent with the graduation rate, which indicates deficits in the skillset of students that will somehow need to be recovered post-graduation.

Seeing this data really motivates me to work more closely with the ELD department and mainstream educators to better support our MLLs. As we all know, our ELD population is growing, and it's important that we provide consistent, targeted support. Moving forward, I plan to collaborate on lesson planning, share language scaffolds with content teachers, and regularly analyze student data to adjust instruction and interventions as needed.

I think for the most part I have been trying to immerse myself in the content to support our AP LIT students. It is important for me to support them and build lessons that are pushing students to think critically and engage them so they can be successful on the exam. Student success pushes the data into a more positive outcome.

It pushes me to evaluate my practices in terms of preparation, delivery of instruction, and student practice, and application on 1 or more concepts in real world problems

I haven't done a survey on the thoughts of our students nor our teachers on their level of educational engagement. However, I personally believe that a large number of educators pride themselves on engaging all their students academically to achieve success. This reason is due to the ongoing professional training and seminars that educators are encouraged or required to take through the county or even personally. Meanwhile, many educators not only teaching in a classroom setting, but often times take on additional after school activities. All will balancing their on personal lives. Concerning scores may be reflecting low at the present time, I will submit to say it's not solely based on the educator, but more so on the entire students village. However, with all of that being said, I will do my part in perfecting my teaching style, techniques and creativities.

The data pushes me to reflect on how my planning, instruction, and relationships impact our collective outcomes. Given our school's national ranking, I'm challenged to help close achievement gaps and raise expectations. It prompts me to improve outcomes through strong teaching, a supportive classroom environment, and meaningful collaboration with colleagues.

I need to incorporate more core standards within my lessons. I need to continue to build relationships with my students. Since 85% are economically disadvantaged, maybe academics are not pushed at home. I can encourage more rigger from my students and set higher expectations in my classroom with critical thinking and achievement.

Being a product of Fairmont Heights HS it does hurt to see my school rank so low. Being an educator now for Fairmont, the data pushes me to want to change that number and push not only myself but push those kids that I know I can push and the ones that struggle make sure that I show them the same love and support I show my "green" kids. I believe that I can make a difference by not only just showing up but being physically and mentally invested in our school and students.

I suppose that I need to reflect on whether or not I need to revise my teaching methods to better reflect how our students learn and retain information. Even though the "real world" won't bend to their needs, I can do more to reach them initially, so that I can help them stretch outside of their academic comfort zones.

The data wasn't surprising as I looked at in previous years - and it's mainly the reason as described. We are Title 1 school with minority students who are economically disadvantaged. Our students suffer and experience injustice in a number of ways - their home environment, food insecurity and poor air quality. I see my role as providing the necessary environment and instructional strategies to promote their learning. There is need to have a baseline assessment and do the neccessary scaffolding
