1.  SERIES

  • group (2-6) of paintings that tell a story or connected thematically or physically

  • video - collection of images and short recorded scenes that evolve somehow
  • a series of prints that are variations on a theme
  • cast multiples
  • create a world of context for your character or object

2. SCALE UP

  • adjust materials to accommodate larger size
  • scale up by translating into another medium altogether 
    • e.g. project a miniature text piece onto the side of a building.
      • note: it's not enough just to take a small image and do this, careful consideration is needed why this act effects the meaning and message of the original work.
    • create individual theatre set pieces from the elements in your painting and orchestrate a "flash mob" or installation with them.
    • stack and overlap imagery into a carefully editted digital video collage
    • use your first piece as an architectural sketch for a space to create a piece that is big enough to walk into.
  • documenation is key, if too big to fit into Calcia hall.  Consider documenting the audience reaction of those passing by if relevant.

3. THEN & NOW:  go back to your favorite or pivotal piece you wrote about at the beginning of the semester.  Create a new piece that combines that piece with the piece you just made.  How can "opposites" or "negations" exist harmoniously in one piece of art? Is there overlap?  Or maybe there is tension? Note you can interpret this project in many different ways by combining materials, concepts, messages, techniques....

DESCRIPTION: The aromantic community is rarely mentioned, let alone represented, in discussions about coming to age and growing into happy fulfilled adults. Rather, it is expected for children to have crushes, teens to fall in love, and adults to get married. Utilizing amorphic and malleable materials, this work depicts an aromatic interaction with the concept of marriage.
