The founder of Stasher Kat Nouri comes up with the idea for her product. It was a 11$ reusable plastic bag. The actual bag is made out of 100% food safe silicone. She came up with the idea because she saw her husbands company had a ton of plastic packaging that ended up being useless and ended up being thrown away.

Kat struggled with funding and sales as she already had many ongoing loans that she hadn't repaid. She decided to go on Shark Tank in which ultimately ended up with Mark Cuban offering 400k in exchange for 15% of the company. They had agreed on this on camera but Mark ended up backing out from the deal because of creative differences on certain aspects. Although she didnt gain any funding from this she was able to use this Shark Tank appearance as leverage and a selling point.

During 2019 Stasher was considered to be one of the fastest growing companies in the Bay Area. Her idea was finally catching on and people were starting to get the idea behind her product. Later on in 2019 the group called S.C. Johnson & Son bought out her company but keeping Kat on as a consultant.

Something that makes the acquisition from S.C. Johnson so interesting is that they are the people that produce and hold the patent for the plastic ziploc bag. This most likely means that they do see a future in which the reusable bags will begin to dominate the single use ones. They wanted to have both before it truly took off sometime in the near future.
