The library in Fulshear opened in 1998 and the one in Katy, literally down the street from my house, opened in 2003. My dad still had land in Fulshear, so even though they were two different counties...I had a library card at BOTH! Shhhh! I enjoyed the huge selection of my favorites. There were cozy areas where I could read without interruption. I was delighted to have the ability to read books there and then go back to the shelf to find the next book in the series to read. I participated in the Summer Reading Programs every year! I walk out with my checked-out books right into the park. It was so peaceful and quiet. At home, I preferred reading once everyone was asleep, late at night. I had a bean bag chair and a tall floor lamp near the foot of my bed. That was my reading spot. I was forced to go to sleep plenty of nights by my dad. I loved reading at my own pace, taking a few extra minutes admiring the illustrations or just the freedom to go back and reread a previous page. As an adult, I do enjoy reading Children Picture Books to my preschooler. I enjoy hearing him laugh at the silly jokes or him being amazed by eye-catching drawings and pictures. I LOVE reading my favorites to him. I just introduced him to Corduroy. Our books make GRAND ENTRANCES to our Reading Carpet! I make sure that I read the book first to find my favorite parts/parts they may enjoy and parts that made me think or reflect.
