Realism is the perspective of accepting a circumstance as it is and dealing with it correctly. Realism in arts is an attempt to represent subject matter truthfully. It appears in opposition to Romanticism, which had dominated French literature and art since the late 18th century. Its approach to arts is straight forward. It was the first non-conformist art movement. It was based on the direct observation in the modern world. Its main features focus on real life, emphasis on behavior, believable dialogue, and common everyday settings. Almost every work of literature has some degree of realism. This is because it is important for readers to relate with the characters and the world they live in.

It began in France in the 1850's, after the 1848 Revolution. It rejected Romanticism, seeking instead to portray contemporary subjects and situations with truth and accuracy. It was born in a chaotic era marked by revolution and social change. It was a movement that surround the entire country, or at least the Midwest and South. It rose against the exotic subject matter and drama typical of the Romantic movement. The important figures in the Realist art movement were Gustave Courbet, Honore Daumier, and Jean-Francois Millet. The term "realism" was the period of time from the Civil War to the turn of the century during which the authors wrote the lives of Americans in various contexts.

The main theme of Huckleberry Finn is focusing on the conflict between civilization and natural life. It shows freedom, conscience, friendship, racism, family and ethics. Huckleberry Finn was about the reality of life, all of the struggles and the things that came along with it, but it also shows that you're never alone because like Huck he found a strong friendship. The characters provide an insight on the foolishness of society. It shows the ups and downs a person will encounter through the journey of life, and as you continue your journey you will experience a lot of things that will give lessons.

Narrator point of view- perspective of the narrator
The narrator's point of vies is first-person narrator full of Huck's personality and perspective. He is interpreting the story and telling it as it's own experience.
Tone- attitude of a writer towards his subject.
The tone of Huckleberry Finn is moralistic, introspective.
Author’s purpose
I think the purpose of the Author is to show what is the reality of life. It showing confrontation of slavery and racism. He wishes to bring to attention some of man's often concealed weakness.

Dialect- particular form of a language which is used by specific places
From my research Twain mentioned Huck's dialect is referred to as a Pike County dialect which is where Huck is from.
Symbolism- using symbols to represent ideas
One example of symbolism in this story is the Mississippi river it symbolizes freedom.
