Personification is when a nonliving thing is given human characteristics.

In "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" by William Wordsworth there are plenty of examples of personification. For example in the first line when he says he as lonely as a cloud. In this poem the poet is telling how huge the world is compared to one person. You can see this when he is describing the group saying over and over again how huge the group is like saying "Ten thousand saw I at a glance" (Wordsworth 11).
