At that moment he knew his prayer had been answered before that he had told the spirit he would worship christmas and love it with all his heart. On line 23 it says that the "kind hand faltered" that's why I think that the Scrooge was effected by the christmas spirit let the Scrooge stay alive because a "Kind hand" wouldn't let someone die.

Based on what I read, there are several details in the passage that shows that the Spirit is affected by what Scrooge says. A few examples of how the Spirit is affected by what the Scrooge said is on lines 23 and 29, "For the first time the kind hand faltered." and, “It shrunk, collapsed, and dwindled into a bedpost.” I think the Spirit is affected by what the Scrooge said because the Spirit’s hand faltered after the Scrooge had been begging for another chance, and we know that the Spirit did give the Scrooge another chance.

On line 21 - 23 it says “Assure me that I can change these shadows that you have shown me by an altered life.

There is many examples of the Spirit being affected by what Scrooge says. In lines 20-30 Scrooge is begging for forgiveness then the firm hand of the Spirit shriveled up and faded away into a bedpost. Also on line 10-13 Scrooge says “Say it is thus with what you show me!” Then on line 14 the passage explains how the spirit was immovable as ever. When the spirit turned into a bed post it was because Scrooge was praying to fate reverse and telling the spirit that he wouldn't do it again and he’d honor christmas past, present, future. Also when the spirit was immovable, it was because the spirit had brought Scrooge to his own gravestone and this is what Scrooge said about the spirit taking him to his gravestone in the future, “Men’s courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead. But if the courses be departed from, the ends will change. Say it is thus with what you show me!” Those are just two reasons of how the spirit was affected by what scrooge was saying.

I can agree that the spirit is touched by what Scrooge's says because the spirit changed into a bedpost and the spirit isn’t pointing at the head stone like he was before now he is pointing at it like saying this isn’t going to happen to you know and then Scrooge’s fate changed.
