What do you believe is necessary to adapt a book into a movie or play? If you could adapt any text (a poem even) into a play, what would it be and why?

well obviously you would need to keep the same story line and characters. or else it wouldn't be based off of the book. it would be any book that I would like but probably diary of a wimpy kid cause I just wanna see that on stage it would be crazy.

To adapt a book or a piece of writing to a movie or play, you need to add stage directions, lines, and how to act in a play or movie, and you need to imagine how the author imagines the book, so that you know what scenes or lines to use. You can also change a few things, or else people who have watched the movie won't want to read the book, or vice versa. I would adapt The Last Kids on Earth into a play because it would be cool to see all the fights that happen, and everything else in the book, and how they deal with all the problems that they are faced with.

If you had to adapt a text from a story to a poem than you have to keep what the text was about. You can't rearrange it's words and a book, you need to have somewhat the same plot, and the same characters. If I could adapt any text, it would be an alien story I did. I want to see a movie about aliens. There have been movies about aliens, but I would like to see a physical change in their looks.

I would adapt the book Inferno by Dan Brown into a play. (I think it is already a movie...) This book is adventurous and intense, so it would be interesting to see that come to life.

You could add your own twist to it but the majority of the storyline needs to fit the story.

The people who will playing the roles of the characters have to be similar in features to how the author describes them. I would also feel like its okay to change it up a bit to make it more entertaining but, as long as you don't completely change the whole message of it. The message or moral of the story is one thing we all need to keep in mind. I think "The Distance between Us" or "I'm not your Perfect Mexican Daughter" as a play since both books have a sad and beautiful (almost dystopian) events that come together with a pretty message and a glimpse into the Hispanic lifestyle.

You shouldn't change someting like who is the antagonist, but adding some minor changes would make the movie/play interesting and more enjoyable. If I could adapt any text into a play, it would be the Giver, because I think it would be interesting to see some scenes be reenacted in real life, and it is a very good book with an entertaining plot.
