Working in individually - imagine you are meeting a visitor from Mars, and need to explain to the visitor what a health system is using a picture to present that explanation. As a group or individual, you should think about your different experiences and seek to identify the common key features of a health system as you understand it, and have experienced it. Draw the picture on one large sheet of paper and develop an approx.. 50-word caption of your picture describing the picture for your Martian.The idea of this exercise is to get you thinking about your own understanding and experience of a health system - if possible engaging with others, reflecting on different experiences and perspectives and teasing out some common dimensions and elements to form a picture. The picture might be more of a diagram (maybe a form of organogram), or might aim to tell more of a story (such as how patients experience a health system), or might try to depict key but hidden elements of a health system (such as relations and context). Every and any approach is acceptable! We encourage creativity and thinking out of the box – well, there is no box! We do not want you to get bogged down by the specifics of any one health system, but encourage you to think broadly and think beyond the specifics of a particular experience. If you are working with other comrades, encourage the different people in your group to share their diverse experiences and perspectives before or as you are developing your picture. You can be as creative as you can be but we ask that the picture be rich with many different facets and you can incorporate different elements – challenge yourself to as little words as possible and reflect using pictures, diagrams, flow diagrams, images online etc. You can decide to hand draw as well or paint – be as creative as possible – and write a 50-word caption describing your health system.
