The Olympics created a rivalry in hockey. The 1980 Olympics started the US and USSR hockey rivalry. The US defeated the USSR in the last couple of seconds to upset the outstanding Soviets. They also created a rivalry in almost every sport in the Olympics. This made the US and USSR tense way more suspenseful when they played every sport. They also crated a competition to see who could get to the moon first. This was called the space race between the US and Soviets. The Soviets were trying to get in a competition with the US to see who is better in every aspect.

The USSR and the US are still big rivals in hockey. They are a thrill to watch every time they play. Even though the US get the best of them almost every time. The US and the USSR are still at the top of the Olympics in the present day. The US and the Soviets are 2 of the most dominant nations in the world when they come to the olympics. The USSR and US are on better terms but the USSR is trying to get the US to join the war. The USSR and Ukraine are in a war and the US is trying to stay out of it but the Soviets are trying to pull them in. The USSR are losing at the moment as they usually are in the past.
