The ritual in the lottery is when the whole town gathers for a day in one area. The men then go one by one picking a slip from a little black box. Once everyone has done that, they must open their card at the same time as everyone else; If there is a black dot on your piece of paper, you then get beaten to death from rocks. They do this because they are sacrificing their crops. The saying is, "Lottery in June, corn be heavy soon"

The ritual in the hunger games is very similar like the Lotteries. In the Hunger Games a person takes one man and woman's name that is on a piece of paper in a jar. Once two people are picked they have to go fight for their lives in a stadium. Once there is one person left in the stadium, they are the winners of the game and can go back home safely.
