The climate in a rain forest is very humid because of all the rainfall. The humidity makes the rain forest very hot and sticky. With all the rain the rain forest has, it's always very wet and moist. Because a rain forest is near the equator, there is always very direct sunlight hitting it when it isn't raining.

The average precipitation of the rain forest is about 80-400 inches/year. Or in other words about 203-1016 centimeters. The rain fall throughout the year is mostly regular, the rain forest has a rainy season and a dry season. Therefore there is usually more than 100 inches of rain per year. Also the different types of precipitation in the rain forest is rain, frost and snow can occur near the equator, and humidity.

Some of the different weather event that have occurred in rain forests are:
Flooding- to cover or submerge in water
During rainy seasons in the rain forest, precipitation can last for days or weeks straight. This can cause flooding of low areas.
Drought- a prolonged absence of water
Droughts are very uncommon in the rain forest because of the dampness and humidity. However, when they do occur, they are very extreme.
Landslides- the sliding down of a mass of earth or rock from a mountain or cliff.
One thing constant precipitation can cause is loose, wet soil or sediment. This can lead to instabilities in hilly and steep areas, which can then cause the earth to collapse.
Forest Fires (Which can happen at random times)- an uncontrolled fire occurring in nature
Forest fires in the rain forest can be spontaneous or man-made. If a drought is occurring, extreme heat and dryness combined with a thin canopy layer and rotting, flammable mass on the forest floor can start a fire. Many man-made fires come from deforestation.
Sometimes Volcanic Activity- an opening in the earth's crust from which molten lava, rock fragments, ashes, dust, and gases are erupted from below the earth's surface.
Nearby volcanic eruptions and lava flows can burn large parts of a rain forest, while the gas released can kill wildlife.
Tropical Storms- a local, very intense low-pressure wind system, forming over tropical oceans and with winds of the force of a hurricane.
Storms cause the most damage in the rain forest through tree falls. When one tree falls down, dozens of other trees, attached by vines, can fall down with it.

Females can grow up to 92 cm long, and the males 52 cm. Like all vipers, this viper has venom to defend itself and to hunt prey with. They also have special organs that can sense heat and locate warm-blooded animals. This is important because the viper hunts at night, when it can't see. Their prey is lizards, birds and rodents, and their predator is the King Cobra.

The Rubber Tree is a tree that yields rubber and is native to the rain forest. If you don't know what i mean by "yields rubber," i'm mean this tree actually produces rubber. This tree can live up to a hundred years and can grow anywhere from 100-130 feet tall! So, you know how trees produce sap?, well this tree gives of a milky white sap called latex. So, on after almost 6 years of age the rubber tappers(people who take the rubber from the tree) can collect the latex and use it for any of our everyday needs. Some things that contain latex are tires, band-aids, and elastic waist bands.
Adaptations:
The rubber tree Grows best in sunlight, wet and hot climates, but does not do good in frost and extreme sudden changes in temperature. The tree does have surviving mechanisms though, such as it can survive in extreme dry conditions.

So, on it takes the plant 3-5 years before the cocoa tree can bear cacao, and it can produce around a thousand beans per year. it is also used to make many sweet snacks for people all around the world, such as chocalate.
Adaptations: One of the different adaptations of the cacao is it is very sensitive to wind and sun so it usually lives in the shade under trees. they have bright colored pods so that animals will pick them up and their seeds will be spread. The good thing is that the plant tastes very bitter so it will not get eaten.

Also, surprisingly, the toucan's bright colors provide great camouflage in the rain forest canopy.

Passion Fruit Flower

To begin, there are 400 different types of Passion Fruit Flower species found all over the world. These flowers, when they blossom can be used for herbal medicines/remedies. This flower has been used for centuries by tribes to treat sicknesses such as, insomnia, asthma, anxiety and menopause.
Adaptations: First off, this flower climbs/grows up vines to get past the trees to reach the sunlight, because this plant needs lots of sunlight to grow. Also, the flower has nubs that resemble butterfly eggs so not too many butterflies will lay their eggs on the flower. If there are too many eggs the petal will get too heavy and break off. Therefore, this plant can be harmful if digested, this protect it from being eaten.

Rain Forest and Forest: What's the Difference? and Rain Forest Classification

A forest is an area hosting a large number of trees. Forest is a broad category because under it are many sub-categories, that that can be classified in lots of different ways. Therefore, a rain forest is just a classification of a forest. To have a forest be a rain forest, it must have 1750-2000 mm of rain per year. They can also only exist in humid or hot weather conditions, and they have to have lots of animal and plant life. Rain forests are classified into two different categories: temperate and tropical. Tropical rain forests are dominant near the equator, in tropical and humid areas, near the Southeast Asia and the Pacific Region. Temperate rain forests are in temperate zones, usually North America and East Asia.
