         <description><![CDATA[<div>Today we talked about global citizenship and how we are all global wether we even leave our countries or not. We are all connected to one another through immigration, internet, travel etc. We need to be aware of the world and communities around us, take care of our environment and each other.<br><br>The global citizenship skills reminded me of what we have in our new core curriculum as transversal competences with the core of them being growth as human and citizen. They are integrated into all subjects but I believe we could be more active in actually paying attention to them. Now they are mostly covered by the topics in our English books but I think that we could create better opportunities for discussion in class. The texts aren't really that interesting for teenagers, they want to see and participate and not just read and do grammar.<br><br>The discussion we had about the environment and the justification to travel as far as to Guadeloupe was a very important one. I often feel quite bad about flying so much, but then I try to compensate through other things.  A few years back I hadn't travelled outside of Europe, then I went to visit some friends in Brazil which sparked my urge to explore the world and has really shaped how I see and feel about things. Sometimes it's quite easy to forget that many of our students have never traveled further than Sweden or Estonia and how they see the world is from their point of view and everyday lives. We were talking about Malala at school and many of my students didn't believe she was shot in the bus because of her opinions, they kept arguing that she must've been aggressive or something because"people don't just come and shoot you for nothing". At that age and with what they know of the world, they read her story through the context of our culture which then opened some very interesting discussions together.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Today we disscused about global citizenship and international learning. I think that is very important for all people around the world. We need to develop the knowledge, skills and values to engage with the world to make more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, secure and sustainable societies. But reality sometimes is not so sunshine as it is. <br>Of course we can't change everyone but we will be able to start with ourselves. This was one of the reasons why we decided to apply for our project.  When teachers apply to their instructional practices, they are building global competences in their students as well. <br>It was interesting to hear other participants' experiences about aims and goals, the outcomes of their projects. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>„You plant the seed of the tree, but the apple doesn‘t grow immediately. It takes time.“ (Rita)<br><br>When thinking of my students as global citizens I know that most of them haven‘t been to any other country than Germany. Some of them hardly ever leave the area around Mainz. Still, through the clothes they wear, the smartphones they use and the food they eat they are more globalized than they might think. So I consider it my job to teach them about global issues and to raise an awareness for how all of us are responsible for that one earth we live on. So even if they are still too young and inexperienced to understand the impact their individual behaviour has on the whole system, I hope they‘ll do so eventually. <br><br>One must not forget, however, that not everybody has a choice. Millions of people live in conditions that confront them with problems going far beyond the question whether they should fly to another place or take the train. So as long as their mind is occupied with existential problems like how to feed their children or how to find a place to live, they won‘t be ready for thinking globally. As was already said in Bertolt Brecht‘s „Dreigroschenoper“ in 1928: „Food first, then morals.“ <br>  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Think globallv, act locally. <br>We often hear in Slovenia a saying: Think globally, eat locally. Through the discussion about the Global citizenship I started to think about this moto as not just another saying but about a true meaning. Why does it really matter to live by this motto? If we eat local food, that means we help local farmers, we support their families, they will continue growing the food. Because it is grown near, there isn't any long expensive transport. Because of that there is less pollution and we preserve nature, air etc... But the local food, because it is healthier, is usually more expensive and we must decide what are our priorities. But it's true, that all people don't have the choice to choose, because of their economic status. That means that people who have the option to choose, whether buy local or transported, should be more responsible at their decisions.<br>To think globally and act locally we need skills and knowledge. That is why our role as educators is important. We have to prepare our students for Global citizenship. Through to proces of education they should develop skills as self-awarness, empathy, conflict resolution, creative and critical thinking, communicating, collaborating and taking action. With that skills they will have a  Global Citizenship outlook: they'll have a positive sense of identity, they will be open to new ideas, they will have a sense of interdependence, a desire to make a difference, they will be commitet to rights, responsibilities, justice and sustainability.<br>That is why we educators have to know, to care and to act now.<br><br>It's not the point, what can we expect from life, but what life expects from us.          <description><![CDATA[<div>What is the mental food and fuel for teachers in their pedagogical work? That is a huge issue that we all - teachers- face nowadays. And we are struggling with this daily in all countries. Projects and courses like this is this fuel and food for pedagogical professionals.<br>We discussed and learned about global citizens and inernationalism. This plays a huge role nowadays and not only now but this term refers to years back as well. The course guidebook offers a wide range of information on the topic which can be used in our classrooms. <br>A lot of these issues are present in our classes and rise plenty of questions- and approaches are up to the professionality of a tutor. <br>We also got to know the amazing nature of Guadeloupe and rainforests. This was a great inspiration to me to bring even more geography in my classes! This comes along with idea of uniqueness of each country and culture and it is amazing to share the diversity with each other.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of my aims as a teacher is to raise awareness of global issues among my students. I consider my job as THE JOB in which one can help students become internationally minded global citizens who “think globally and act locally”.<br>Today’s discussions gave me many ideas for phenomenon based learning projects that we’ll be doing with students when I go back home. The global citizenship themes that we discussed offer lots of material for further studies.<br><br></div><div>This classroom in the rainforest was again one of the most beautiful ones I’ve ever been to. Rita told about her personal experience of acting locally by collecting glass from a beach and getting others to do the same. It’s an excellent example of a simple, small act by one woman that can open the eyes of many others.  With examples like these, it’s possible to give hope to students who struggle with eg. environmental angst. <br>With knowledge and caring you can find your own path to act. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>"Think globally, act locally."<br>I like that phrase, it kind of gives hope to me. Sometimes you feel so little, you feel that it doesn't matter what you do in this world because you are only one of the 7 billion people. But you should never think that way, because changes only happen when individual people start to act and slowly get together and by doing this form a force that affect on the world. <br><br>Politicians are playing a big role in the work against climate change, but also for example consumers can affect in companies. Let's say, people start buying a lot of vegeterian food from shops and restaurants, as has happened in Finland and many other countries as well. After that the restaurants and shops start to realize that and offer more and more vegeterian options, which makes consumers buy more vegeterian food, and so on and so forth. So changes are possible, we just have to keep on believing in them.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Today we talked about global citizenship and international learning in a biology teacher`s dream classroom, rainforest. I had some difficulties to keep my focus on the subject, because there were so much to see (birds, plants etc.). I was trying to get as much I could into my retina and into my visual field back of my brain, something that I could spread to my students through pictures and stories behind them.</div><div> </div><div> We see the world through our own eyes and through our own culture. Every single student is coming from a different background. How can a student change the persepective, to look the world like Global citizen who is willing and ready to face the cultural diversity? First the basic needs such as food, water, shelter and caring should be provided. That is not an easy task, if there is 7,8 billion people in the World this year. Luckily in Finland the most of students have these basic needs provided but of course there is a group of students who struggle every day to get these basic human needs. If the students parents have strong opinions about how to live your life, then usually the teacher has harder work to put the student think things with their own brain. I think sometimes students face some kind of riptide of opinions; As a teacher I should teach that the students should have the willingness to be openminded to see things the other way too. That is hard for a teenager. I think the best opportunity to affect student is to be some kind of role model; be the one who pick up the trash from the school corridor, be yourself openminded to other cultures.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Today I learned that we all are global citizens because we live on Earth. To me I have starded to understand globalisation gradually. We as a family started to make choices like where do by our food, sort our garbages, rather buy less, … but still we could do so much more. And there are certain things that have many aspects. I myself need to travel to experience new and to not forget what we are. I want my children to see the World as well to understand more. I still want to eat meat, because my allergies it’s necessary. Although I’m not perfectmI still want to teach my students also to be more aware of globalisation.</div><div><br></div><div>I could use the global village example in maths and same time they could learn easyle by numbers what we have on Earth. I talk with students about their consupmtion habits, what do they wear and what do they eat. I think also that more student are loosing a contact to the nature and they can’t understand its meaning for living. I try to show documents about globalisation whenever we have time, but I think that isn’t still the same as they would learn by travelling. I find Erasmus+ projects very important to teach so many aspects of life.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I find it good that our classrooms change and are not inside. Today we were in the rain forest, what a wonderful and calming environment for learning. Now that we are on this wonderful island that is very versitale I don't have the rush to get out of the class because we are always some place wonderful and still working efficiently. I have learned from this this weeks experience that learning inside and always in the same place can make resentment towards learning. So this is something I should remember in my own teaching. Always chancing location is meaby not always possible but there is lot that you can do within a school area for a change still. <br><br>I was glad to hear that our topic at Erasmu+ ka1 -Wellbeing at school, was considered very important by Rita and the other teachers. I would like my students to be happy everyday after the class and I learned that creating this positive athmosprehe or working towards it actually matters the most and is also Rita's aim for these teacjer training courses too. It is not only that the day is nicer but people learn a lot about how to treat others and work together.<br><br>Communication and understandig other people's point of view are important between each person and the same even between nations. The cultural exchange and exchanging of good pactices is importnt for teachers, students and schools and nations as well really. We are all the same after all. And it is for the best to work together towards the wellbeing of the word. We need to be in peace and to be united because  this is how everybody wins and we can achieve something good for all. We talked about Global Citizenship and the conversation kept coming back to our own lives back home. So it goes as was said "think globally act locally".</div>]]></description>
