Language-
The majority of people in Japan speak Japanese, but learning English is mandatory in Japanese schools, and is commonly used in business, so it is also common.

Religion-
Japan's most popular religions are Shinto and Buddhism. Because of how popular these two religions are, the Japanese have integrated certain aspects from each religion into their culture. For example, it is very common to have Shinto marriages, while it is also common to have Buddhist funerals.

Personal Appearance-

Traditional clothing, or wafuku, is commonly worn out in most of Japan for special events, but is more common in religious places such as Kyoto (as seen in picture 1). However, Japanese street fashion is a huge trend in Japanese cities (as seen in pictures 2 and 3).

Greetings-
Bowing is the traditional greeting in Japan, they are used to show respect and to show that someone is thankful.

Gestures-
Japanese people try to have "good" posture at all times; sitting up straight, both feet on the floor, etc. Making an X or O signifies "no" and "yes" respectively. Things such as yawning and chewing gum in public is considered impolite/ill-mannered.

Diet-
Popular dishes usually include: rice, vegetables, seafood, fruit and other meats, it is also popular to add soy sauce, fish broth or sweet sake. Meat is usually a small part of a meal, where things such as rice. A popular dish that includes some of these things are any  variation of ramen; a kind of soup with one kind of meat, seasoned broth, noodles and a high variety of vegetables. The ramen shown in picture 1 has pork, bamboo shoots, chives, surimi(decorative minced whitefish), ajutsuke tamago(soy sauce-marinated eggs) and bok choy.

Recreation-
Badminton, soccer, basketball and table/soft tennis are the most popular sports. Japan also has a very "western" idea of leisure, people enjoy: television, karaoke, movies, video games and nature outings. Vacation timing is usually uniform across Japan, and happens in the summer, locations such as Tokyo Disney, Universal Studios Japan, shrines and temples are crowded during this time.

The Arts-
Japan has a very iconic blend of traditional and modern art, they enjoy things such as music, ballet, calligraphy, haiku, flower arranging, tea ceremony and woodblock printing, as well as more modern arts such as anime and manga. Anime are animated television shows that are usually adaptions of manga(comics) that are written by a manga artist, or mangaka.

Japan's most popular music genres include Jpop (Japanese pop) and traditional music(Gaguku), which branches out to kigaku(instrumental music) and seigaku(vocal music). One of the most popular Jpop songs is PONPONPON, performed by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Music is also commonly associated with anime, as songs are commissioned for certain shows. Coda is a group that has made multiple extremely popular songs for the anime "Jojo's Bizarre Adventures".
