Positive Action

Positive Action, a K–12 program, aims to promote character development, academic achievement, and social-emotional skills, and to reduce disruptive and problem behavior. The program is based on the philosophy that you feel good about yourself when you think and do positive actions, and there is always a positive way to do everything. All lessons are scripted and use classroom discussion, role-play, games, songs, and activity sheets or text booklets. Optional components include site-wide climate development; drug education for grade 5 and middle school; conflict resolution; counselor, parent, and family classes; and community/coalition components.

Patrice, what a wonderul Padlet. I believe that the school to prison pipeline is real. It is astounding that African American and Latino's make up only 29% of the population but about 73% of this population is suspended for minor infractions such as cell phones. I think your Provided amazing and easy to understand information as it pertains to the Zero tolerance policy and also the incorporation of EIP for each Teir! I think that the policy needs to be renamed. Zero is negative. When students hear that it, it means they have zero chance of redemption. Everyone has the ability to be redeemed. 
2. This is a good question.  students who are suspended as a result of the zero tolerance policy doesn't seem to have anywhere to turn to.  They could turn to social workers to advocate, and find those who will support the local and state government.
3. I believe the best time to move on to another tier is as soon as the first tier is not working. I also believe that proper documentation should be involved and not just word of mouth As some teachers or staff may have a tendency to hold grudges.
4. I think that only way that students can be helped, is through, love, care, reform, and also cultural sensitivity training. Every child deserves another change, and most kids are not given another chance. 
5. The Children to do not benefit from the policy. It seems to me that it would be the teachers because they do not have to "deal with the problem child", the admin for the same reason, and the staff.
