Lewis and Clark began their expedition in 1804 after being chosen by Thomas Jefferson himself. The expedition took them over two, entire years. Along the way, the dynamic duo faced harsh weather, unforgiving terrain, treacherous waters, injuries, starvation, disease, and hostile Native Americans. However, they could not have succeeded without Sacagawea. She helped them search for easier travel routes, fed them, supplied them with tools, and stuck by their side. On March 23, 1806, Lewis and Clark headed home to report back on what they had seen.
