Jeff Bezos was born on January 12, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His biological father divorced Jeff's mom before Jeff was born. His mom remarried when Jeff was 4 to Miguel Bezos, a Cuban immigrant. Jeff was a very independent and curious boy. Jeff also loved to be happy and laugh. He worked on a ranch from age 4 through 16, milking cows and helping with other things. But since almost nobody knew that he worked on a ranch, Jeff was thought to be a very skinny, nonathletic kid. Jeff however, was a very smart child. He was a very popular kid and graduated summa cum laude(with high distinction) from Princeton University with a bachelors degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Later, he worked at D.E. Shaw and became the vice president only a few years after graduating from college. He then married Mackenzie Tuttle in 1993. But even with his vice president position, Bezos couldn't get over the fact that the internet had grown 2,400% in the past year. So he left his job and drove all the way to Seattle to create a start-up company. That is when Amazon was born.

Jeff launched Amazon to the public in 1997. Amazon.com was marketed as an online bookstore. He created a electronic bell that would ring every time someone ordered something off of Amazon. Soon the bell began to ring so many times that Jeff had to turn it off because it got so annoying! Bezos usually had most of his meetings at Barnes & Noble, which was ironic because Amazon was starting to dominate over Barnes & Noble. Amazon.com's business was booming. But then, Barnes & Noble created its own online website and many people predicted that Amazon would fail . Also, in 2001, the dot.com bust occurred, and many websites went bankrupt. But very surprisingly, Amazon stayed strong and survived the bust. Jeff as a child was very fascinated by space and in 2000, he founded Blue Origin, a privately funded rocket manufacturer. Blue Origin was the first manufacturer to create a rocket booster that has flown into space and safely returned, paving the way for reusable rockets. Very recently, on October 27, Jeff Bezos became the richest person in the world with a net worth of 98.6 billion dollars.

In 2003, while trying to find a good place to launch a rocket, he almost died in a helicopter crash. He has invested 40 million dollars into a project called "The Clock of the Long Now", which is a clock that will last around 10,000 years. He also bought The Washington Post in 2013 for 250 million dollars. Even though Amazon has proposed for an 8 million square feet headquarters just last year (this was written in 2018), Amazon was started inthe garage of his house!

Though this quote is short, it is very influential. This quote relates to Jeff Bezos. I know this because Jeff Bezos has put tremendous effort into Amazon, Blue Origin, and The Washington Post. He worked 12 hours a day and 7 days a week. Jeff Bezos also looks like he is having a lot of fun as he is almost constantly laughing. Finally, Jeff Bezos has definitely made history. Just recently, he became the world's richest person. He has created the world's biggest e-retailer ever. That is making history.
