If you are late up to 1 week you will pay a $25 fee. If you do not return it during the 1 week late period you will be charged the full price of the textbook.

The California Promise grant must be submitted every year before the deadline.

You should always wear your AVC ID while having any college business.

You will receive some free health care while being registered at AVC.

2.) You should be a STAR student in all spaces. Follow all rules and respect each space.

3.) In college, there are no excused absences - You have to let them know why you won't attend class, but it wouldn't be marked as an unexcused absence. If you are absent more than three times, you will be dropped from the class, and the same thing happens with tardies.

4.) For Thanksgiving break, there aren't any classes, but AVC classes are still ongoing. Spring break is different than the rest of the AVHSD, but it is the same as AVC's.

5.) Have to get C's or higher in both high school and college classes/courses. Final grades are closed by the end of each semester (semester one ends Christmas break)

6.) Fail a college class, you must retake the course immediately (either the next semester or summer break). Fail a high school class, you must retake it during the summer at a different high school (you won't be kicked out of SOAR, but will be put into MAS)

7.) You get into MAS if you earn a D or F in your Quarter One grade report/any class from the previous semester.

8.) If you are placed into MAS, you will stay there for the rest of the semester, complete tutoring, attendance, etc. If you don't show improvement, you have to leave SOAR

9.) Have to be in at least 1 AVC class every fall and spring. Summer classes aren't mandatory. Classes can't conflict with each other (High school and College). You are limited to the CALGETC or AVC Ed plan.

10.) If you are in HD101 for the first semester, then you will take Library101 second semester (and vice versa).

11.) Don't have to pay for any AVC textbooks. Textbooks are due on the last day of college (if you have a physical copy)

12.) College classes end December 1st - 5th

13.) Have to do the California Promise Grant every year.

14.) Always have your AVC ID.

15.) AVC's Student Health Fee as well as the Student Representation Fee (and must be paid every term you enroll in AVC courses).

Christmas break is the first semester and after Christmas is 2nd semester. If you get a D or an F in AVC you have to retake the class. If you get D or F in high school class you go to summer school to retake class.

Attendance:

Behavior:

If you need security or bells or anything else to follow rules then you need to go to a normal school that's not soar.

You can get in trouble by copying work that isn't yours and be unable to go to the college. Being at the college is a privilege and can be taken away.

Do go into the cubes in cedar hall, don't go into the music rooms or the area for theatre.

If your in a group with someone and they do something they're not supposed to do then move away from them.

Grading:

C's or better in all courses.

Students are supposed to average C's or higher for high school and college classes.

If you get an F or a D as a final grade of a college class then you have to retake the class in summer school and go to another high school to do it.

MAS:

You can get MAS if you earned a D or an F in any class from previous semesters or a Quarter 1 grade and if you get placed on it then you will stay on it for the entire semester and complete all requirements like tutoring and attendance. • Don't go to places you shouldn't be in.

• On time to all classes. If you are not in class your professor can drop you. (Some even if you are tardy) We dont always have the same breaks. Thanksgiving break doesn't have really necessarily happen in college.

Behavior

Behavior follow it. The rules are in the handbook. (AVC has their own that you have to follow) (their own code of conduct))

• Earn at least a c at the end of the year for both college and high school.

• If you get a d or f in college on your final grade report, you have to retake the course.

• If you get a d or f in high school in your final grade report, you have to retake that class during summer school (in any other high school besides here, but your not kicked out just have to take it somewhere else)

• You also will be required to be in M.A.S for the whole semester.

• If you fail after that then you will be going to your primary school meaning getting kicked out of SOAR.

2). Attendance

Students are required to be on time to ALL high school and AVC classes.

If not, the possibility of being dropped from a certain course/class grows only larger after being tardy or missing class a certain amount of times.

3). MAS (Mandatory Academic Support)

Students are required to receive a C or higher grade in all high school classes, and AVC courses.

If a student earns a grade lower than that, such as a D or an F, they will be required to repeat the course the following semester. For high school classes, they will be told to take the following course at the high school nearest to them.

Students will be placed in MAS if they received one D or F in any high school or AVC courses the previous semester; if they do not meet the requirements of SOAR's program. Students will have to sign a contract stating that they will meet all requirements in MAS.

4). SHINE (Supporting High Impact Needs for Education)

Students will be placed on SHINE if they received more than ONE D or F in any high school or AVC courses from the previous semester. Same goes for students who have been placed in MAS in the past. Similar to MAS, SHINE also requires students to sign a contract that states they will meet the requirements of SHINE.

5). Academic Probation (AVC)

Students can be placed on Academic Probation with AVC and must fulfill all of the requirements the R.I.S.E office gives them to complete.

Students who do not meet the requirements will be taken off of academic probation, and will be required to leave the SOAR program within a semester.

6). AVC Textbooks

All AVC Textbooks are purchased by the SOAR program.

All Textbooks must be returned by the Monday following the end of the AVC term to avoid paying a fee of $25 for each textbook per class.

If textbooks are not returned within a week of the end of the term, students will be required to pay for the cost of the textbook.

7). Practices and Other Requirements

The CA College Promise Grant will have to be submitted every year you are in the SOAR program.

It is heavily recommended that all SOAR students at least carry both their AVC and SOAR IDs with them.

If possible, or by habit, even wearing the IDs or having them in their pockets.

AVC's Student Health Fee must also be payed alongside the Student Representation fee every term you enroll in AVC's courses.

8). Withdrawal from SOAR

If you choose, for whatever reason to withdrawal from SOAR's program, you must also withdraw from your AVC courses.

All textbooks and materials should be returned within a timely and professional manner.
