I think that after the Snow Queen kisses Kay on the forehead everyne on the stage should exit - taking the white cloths and fabrics with them (showimg the change of season).

On the stage should come a group of people who pose as a house, the door of the house, a river and cherry trees - freeze frame. Gerda then walks onto the stage and goes up to the door of the house. The people who are the door creak open - making sound effects. Gerda is greeted by an old woman.

Gerda: "Have you seen Kay?"

Old Lady: "No,"
Old Lady: "But why don't you hav some of my cherries?"

Gerda goes into the old lady's house and eats her cherries whilst the lady combs her hair.

Out side the house the cherry trees become people holding a calendar. They tear off month after month - starting with june and ending in october - while Gerda is inside the Old Lady's house.

Narrator: "The old lady, who was in fact a witch, had an enchanted garden where it was always summer. Every flower you could think of grew in it, including some lovely roses. The witch knew that if Gerda saw them, the roses would remind her of Kay. So she thumoed her with her stick and the rose bushes dissapeared under the ground. But, the witch had forgotten she had red rose painted on her hat."

Whilst the narrator says all of this the actors are doing what the narrator is saying.

Person 1 (holding calendar): "One day gerda saw the witches hat and remembered about Kay."
Person 2 (holding calendar): "So she ran away from the ld witch and the beautiful garden, where it was always summer."
Person 3 (holding calendar): "In the world outside it was Autumn."

While Person 1 and 2 (the people holding the calendar) say this the other people who were trees, the door and the river change into a different position and pick up orange and red things from the side of the stage -and drape them over themselves to show the change in season.

Gerda: "Oh, dear!"
Gerda: "What a lot of time I've wasted!"
