We observe the motion of leaves as the wind blows through the trees. The wind interacts with the elements as the seasons change, the leaves start changing colour and fall off the trees as the wind blows.

The soil sustains life but what happens when the soil isn't alive, would the life around die or find other ways to flourish?

Our sculpture is a home for a small worm and the surroundings are also used to sustain the life for the worm.

The smell of the soil opens up our mind to the possibilities of life and could be represented by the smell of a wild organic mushroom or an earthy odor.

Gloomy clouds filled the sky

Upon our conversation with the clouds, we began to reflect on things like weather and how clouds play a role in determining that. Alongside this, the clouds can often determine our mood from what we have found. This in turn plays a role in our everyday life and how we go about our days. Clouds can also create change of plans when it comes to things like unexpected rain but it is also an essential part of life. Overall, this experience was insightful and gave us new perspectives.

Group 8: Shadows of the Forest

Due to the lighting outside, we could not make a stop-motion like the prompt. However, we made a video of the shadows that we created on a tree.

We observed that all elements played a crucial role: the group members, the plants, and the light, they individually add to the design of our video. Any minor adjustments to these elements would have greatly altered the outcome. This example symbolizes how everything in nature works together in order to prosper by helping each other. All the elements are interconnected.

Light provides life and nutrients to trees through visible and invisible sun rays.

Shadows are as alive as the things that are cast upon them. The shadows shift as the sun moves, the tree is never left in darkness forever.

Group 3 - Stone's Story (Monica, Olivia, Mya, Ana, Angelo)

We came across this stone outside that was partially rooted into the soil. The stone was not the heaviest, but the way it was held onto by the soil surrounding it made it hard for us to grab it out of the ground. We made the connection that in a way the stone symbolized the cultures and traditions of Indigenous Peoples. The stone will always be there in the soil, just like how the Indigenous Peoples' cultures and identities will always exist no matter how hard the colonizers try to erase their identity.

As a group we observed different leaves and picked a certain one that stood out. As a way to represent what we saw we created our own interpretation of that leaf and its movement in its environment. To replicate the leaves original movement we decided to position the leaves in a way to represent the "breath of leaves"

When did humans become separate from nature? Here are the sounds of contemporary nature, where wildlife meets the elements, at a central hub for students. With the integration of humans into our society, the natural sounds of humans and their interactions become a part of nature's sounds. As we were walking around we noticed how natural and artificial sounds co-exist in our environments. The sounds can affect our emotions as more natural sounds tend to have a more positive effect on our emotions.
