The part that stood out to me the most is where she explained that even if you do sit down and practice for hours and hours if you're practicing mistakes then it will do more harm than it does good. You have to practice perfectly in order to be perfect.

I think this talk changed the way I think about practice a bit because before I would not know when to step away and I'll just keep doing the same thing over and over again even if it wasn't right and you only become more frustrated. However it confirmed how I feel about talent in that you do have to practice like you play.

Deliberate or Focus practice is much more effective than simply repeating things because when you repeat things you could be repeating mistakes and not really making any improvements at all. When you focus on practicing you can make improvements and be better at what you're doing.

1. Failure is normal and is very much needed if you want to get better at your art.

you have to be very motivated and can't want to get better at something if you don't like it

and the last rule, if you make a mistake that's okay just keep on going and don't treat it as if it's the end of the world if you make a mistake.

If you don't fail you can never get better at art/things because failure is a a key part in learning. Lots of successful people have failed at what they are great at and that is how they got really good at the things they are famous for. Almost everything in this world that people have made took a lot of trial and error.
