Those military and political leaders who were actually the ones responsible claimed that Germany had been "stabbed in the back" by its politicians, Communists, and Jews. In times of desperation and defeat this party offered hope political stability and à sense of power which is what led to the rise of the Nazis and made them popular with the German people .
