I chose "This is Gospel" by Panic at the disco because the song talks about needing someone to let them go, and it goes along with what is happening towards the end of the book. In the end of the book Eleanor has to leave because of her abusive, angry, and just bad overall stepfather. She runs away to tell Park, her boyfriend, that she has to leave. She's telling him to let her go, and he reluctantly does. In the song the speaker says "If you love me let me go,
‘Cause these words are knives that often leave scars. The fear of falling apart." In Eleanor and Park they have to let go of eachother. Like Eleanor and Park, the boy loved stick kid very much and would do anything for him. He gave stick kid everything he wanted because he loved them. So when stick kid wanted to leave and have a life of hos own, he let him go, and drew a car and a road. Park let go of Eleanor because he loved her too. She had to leave so he helped her leave and drove her to her uncles house.
