         <description><![CDATA[<p>a. Definition</p><p>Descriptive text is a kind of text that describes a person, place, thing or animal clearly and specifically. Moreover, the purpose of descriptive text is to describe something in a specific way.</p><p>In other words, descriptive text paints a picture with words. It goes beyond simply stating facts and instead focuses on creating a sensory experience for the reader.</p><p><br/></p><p>b. Social Function </p><p>The social function of descriptive text is to describe a particular person, place, thing, or animal in detail.</p><p><br/></p><p>c. Language Features</p><p>1.Use of Adjectives</p><p>Descriptive texts use many adjectives to describe the nature, shape, color, size, and other characteristics of the object being described.  For example, "big house", "blue sky", "fragrant flowers".</p><p>2.Verbs that Describe Circumstances or Activities</p><p>Descriptive texts often use verbs that describe circumstances, for example "located", "found", "seen", and also active verbs that describe activities, for example "running", "standing".</p><p>3.Nominal Phrases</p><p>The use of nominal phrases or groups of words consisting of nouns and adjectives that function as complements in sentences.  Examples: "a good teacher", "a beautiful garden".</p><p>4.Use of Adverbs of Place and Time</p><p> In descriptive texts, adverbs of place and time are often used to explain where and when something happened.  Examples: "in the park", "in the morning".</p><p>5.Use of Pronouns</p><p>Descriptive texts also often use pronouns to mention objects or people that have been previously mentioned without repeating the original words.  Examples: "he", "they", "it".</p><p><br/></p><p>d. Text Structure </p><p>1. Introduction/Identification:</p><p>   - This part introduces the subject of the description, giving the reader a general idea of what or who is being described. It might include basic information like the name, category, or a general overview.</p><p>2. Body/Description:</p><p>   - This is the core of the text, where detailed descriptions of the subject are provided. This section often includes multiple paragraphs, each focusing on different aspects or characteristics, such as appearance, smell, sound, texture, function, or behavior.</p><p>3. Conclusion (optional):</p><p>   - This part may summarize the description or provide a final thought, emphasizing the significance or impact of the subject. It's not always included in every descriptive text but can be used to leave a lasting impression</p>]]></description>
