They also have similar beliefs, except the way they choose to practice them are different. 
The Quran addressed women basically equal to man spiritually but inferior to him as a companion. Men were leaders and women simply followed and obeyed their husband. NOT SAYING WOMEN DID NOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF AUTHORITY TO THEIR SPOUSE it just wasn't as explicitly stated in the Quran as women to men.
