I was walking and found this beautiful Smiling balloon at a party. I thought, just like it, I am hopeful that we all smile, shine bright and reach sky every day. I took 50 pictures to get this good picture of the smiley balloon. The balloon was moving a lot. This was not easy, but I am happy I got this picture.

My work was a reflection on my two-year-old cousin, who lives in Boston. I took this picture using FaceTime because, even though we live far apart from each other, we keep in touch weekly. I love to see her because she makes me feel happy. She gives me hope about things that are to come because she is very little and has lots to experience.

The photo describes how we can find hope even in the lowest points. As seen in the picture, the dog is seen looking out the glass, observing the raindrops on it. The raindrops and glass act as a barrier, something the dog can’t overcome. But on the opposite side, there is a reflection of the dog, which shows the dog’s hopeful side. The photo displays how, when we reflect upon ourselves, we can find hope in places we thought we wouldn’t be able to.

Light at the End of the Tunnel

My work is a photography of a plant representing hope. As once said, "There is light at the end of the tunnel." The image is based on this saying. The darkness around the image is like the darkness of the tunnel. The plant represents hope. This relates to the theme "I am hopeful because..." because even when life takes the darkest turn, we should not give up hope for there will be a sweet reward at the end of every challenging obstacle.

New Life, New Hope

A month ago, I witnessed a 45-year old tree being cut down by the city. Once a dominating force in the sky, it was quickly reduced to a stump of dead wood--a ghost of its former self. But as this photograph captures, from the dead came life: an emerging, lively being fighting for survival. A shoot of growth I never expected to see. When I see nature triumph over its setbacks like this, it gives me hope. Hope that I too, just like the little shoot, will find a better tomorrow when I push through the hardships thrown my way.
