         <description><![CDATA[<div>- Discovered by Dominico Fontana in 1954, Pompeii was apart of the Roman empire which is now known as Campania. It was set near the Sarno river and the large Mt. Vesuvius which made its land very fertile. They also had exquisite architecture and a detailed plan for streets and walkways.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-After Mt. Vesuvius erupted, the people in the city  were killed; however, the city was kept very well preserve in part because the city was buried under several feet of ash and rock. Because of this, historians have been able to have a further understanding of what life was like in Rome and what the cities looked like. Pompeii was so well preserved we can still observe the layout of city streets and walkways, the public buildings and monuments, and the shops and houses.</div>]]></description>
