This post is one example of how many Covid policies are not sustainable. Teachers are expected to teach students even after the traditional school day is over. The cause could be many reasons, but I would predict is would have to do with either lack of staffing or lack of funds. It is also important to consider the school is expecting these teachers to stretch beyond their capacity in order to teach every student, both virtual and in person. As seen in other posts, teachers feel as though they have to meet the expectation of a "caring" and "selfless" teacher.

It is clear that the demands on teachers have increased in efforts for the school to be both more efficient and cost-effective. The administration and the people controlling the budget of the school are the winners in this scenario because they are expecting more work out of teachers without an increase in prep time. The losers are the teachers who risk burnout by dedicating their time and energy to put out the best product for their students, with little to no support.

This goes hand in hand with the statement above about teachers having no prep time or time for themselves. Once again, their workload has multiplied but with little to no increase in pay, resources, or support. Connecting all of the slides in this post, the teachers are the losers during the pandemic. They are saying they are burnout and all they want is a little time for themselves in order to do their best both personally and for the students.

The teacher here makes a valid point that I agree with. If the school is capable of doing things during Covid times, including reduced class size, what stopped them from doing that before? The question that comes to my mind is if the world goes "back to normal", how many of these Covid policies will stay in place?

A common theme seen in schools during Covid is teachers being fired or let go because they don't adapt to the Covid policies in place. There are many reasons why an individual would not follow a Covid policy, and in many cases, a teacher chooses not to because their lives and safety are at stake. Connecting to the previous post, this is where that accountability and blame are put on teachers. But where in the contract did it say a teacher had to risk their own lives in order to teach the students? And again, where is the action from the schools?

I felt as though this post gives an overall view of how many educators feel while teaching during Covid. Many times, school policies are not aligned with what we hear in the outside world leaving teachers with lots of unanswered questions, having to come into work every day with a feeling of uncertainty. When the school's main focus is to keep pushing the students along, whether they are absorbing the content or not, both students and teachers become losers in that situation. In my opinion, in the long run schools will realize they are the losers as well. What may seem efficient now will result in many students way behind in years to come.

Teachers are praised for their work only if it benefits other people. For example, in this post Cornell administration thanks their educators for their work during the pandemic but only because the administration won. Whether the teachers stay or leave, the school could still be considered the winner because they would not have to pay the teachers if they decide to go on leave. It can be considered cost-effective for the school, but ultimately the teachers are the losers once again.

Teachers are not the only losers due to Covid policies, in this case, it is the students as well. The students miss out on learning time from their regularly assigned teachers. Due to staffing shortages, teachers are being told to take the place of others outside their specialty. To connect with the other posts, this often occurs with little to no prep time. In my own experience as a substitute teacher, I have noticed the shortage of subs especially due to the fear of safety inside the school. A substitute teacher wouldn't want to risk their own health by coming into a school during Covid, yet teachers have to do this on a regular basis, with little support.

The Covid policies in place are not implemented by teachers, but many people feel the need to hold teachers accountable for these policies. The way that teachers' lives are being threatened, especially at this amount, makes me wonder if the schools do anything to protect their safety or try and take the blame off the educators.
