I really enjoy lesson observations, and it’s inspiring to be part of a different learning environment, even briefly. The process felt smooth—we set clear expectations beforehand and reflected afterward. We agreed to take an active role rather than passively observing, which made the experience more dynamic and engaging. Since we shared the same perspective, it created a comfortable and collaborative atmosphere.

The feedback I received was constructive and strengths-based, focusing on what worked well and how to build on it. This approach made the feedback actionable and motivating. Likewise, my feedback was well-received as it was specific, practical, and centered on student learning outcomes. I also noticed that students benefited from the presence of multiple teachers, gaining different perspectives and support.

To take this further, we could incorporate more co-teaching experiences in Grade 4, perhaps once per term, allowing for real-time feedback and strategy implementation. Overall, this process was highly beneficial, offering new perspectives, meaningful reflection, and professional growth. I would love to continue engaging in peer coaching.

Observation Phase: I felt very comfortable both being observed and observing. While I was observing, I didn't want to create a distraction and I also wanted to make myself useful. I'm sure that the more we do it, the more the students and teachers will find it very normal. I was more comfortable being observed due to the fact that I had decided what skill I was looking for feedback on and that made me feel like I had a friend in the room who was going to see my good intentions and give me helpful feedback.

Relationship building: Yes, despite some discomfort in the initial stage of choosing a partner and getting into the process, I definitely felt a sense of collaboration and mutual support.

Outcomes and Impact: It helped me think through my delivery even in the preparation of the observation, and, it helped me to see what amazing things other teachers are doing in their classes

Challenges and Suggestions: Scheduling can be a challenge. Perhaps there could be a specific meeting time after school when partners come back together to give feedback and also complete this feedback survey.

Overall experience: I thought this was a wonderful overall experience and I would love to see all teachers in all parts of the school embrace it.
