The sea was a huge thing for Italy for it to strive. Not only was salt water so they could not use it to drink but they used it so they could become great traders. The Italian landscape is not as hilly and mountainous as Greece but it still was hard to farm crops and get food that way. So they would get food by trading with other places and they became pretty good at it.This Sea was very important to ancient Rome because it gave them the option to trade goods. This was very important because Italy has a lot of mountains and it can get hard to grow crops.

The Alps are the largest Mountain range that goes through Northern Italy by Milan. It keeps on going into Austria, Croatia and many other counties in southwestern Europe. These mountains are covered with large forests, great meadows and all kinds of flowers and wildlife . In the summer time millions of birds will come to these mountains from Africa. Because of the mountains though it made it hard for the Italians to gather food by growing crops.

The Italian Peninsula really helped the Romans and the rest of the Italians strive. This gave them the assess to traveling on water in any sea they would like. They could trade with anyone and be able to get all kinds of fish and food from the seas and oceans.
