The Congress should be split up between the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan to create a two chamber government with a House of Representatives based on population and a Senate with a fixed number of representatives from each state.

Executive Power

We should have a president that has many limits to prevent him acting like a king. He should review laws and cover foreign affairs.

Judicial Power

We should create a Supreme Court and other courts that rank lower in power. We also should create a judicial process that allows all people the right to a fair trial, to a lawyer, and to appeal to a higher court.

State Power and Limits

We should give the government power but also give fair power to the states. States should govern their own schooling and eduction, protection and safety, and can also write their own constitution. However, it is very important that the Federal law and United States constitution take precedence over any form of State written constitution and states cannot form any alliance with another country, declare war, or impose duties on imports or exports.

Amending the Constitution

The constitution can be amended by a two-thirds vote of both parties in Congress and can be ratified by three-fourths vote from the states or state legislators.

Federal Law

Federal law takes precedence over all other forms of law, except for the constitution. These laws apply to everyone unlike state and local laws which apply to only people who live in that area.

Rights of the People

There are many rights of the people such as right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Major rights also include right to religion, free speech, freedom from the press, right to petition in the government, and the right to bear arms.

Judges

We should appoint lead judges with life terms so they don’t act to keep their jobs. The Supreme Court should have around 7-10 Judges and should be appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

Government Requirements

The president should be at least thirty-five years of age, have been living in America for at least 14 years, and be a natural born American. Members of the House of Representatives need to be at least twenty-five years old, be a citizen for at least 7 years and live in the state they represent. Senators need to be at least thirty years of age, be a citizen for nine years and live in the state they represent.

Senate and The House of Representatives

Each state is given two Senators and each Senators serves terms of six years before needing to be re-elected. Each senator needs to be at least thirty years of age, be a citizen for nine years, and be living in the state that you are representing to become eligible for election. There are many more House of Representatives than there are Senators and it is based off of population. Members of the House of Representatives serve terms of 2 years before they need to be re-elected and similar to Senators have a few requirements: twenty-five years of age, be a American citizen for seven years, and live in the state they represent to become eligible for election.

Executive Branch members

In the future we may elect a vice President, who would breaks ties in the senate and is there to take power if anything happens to the President. The vice president will be the person who receives the second most amount of votes. The Cabinet is a group of fifteen head of departments and they advise the President in the department that they lead. These members are appointed by the president and approved by the senate.
