When one is pregnant there are some behaviors and parental care that needs to be avoided and done. For example, one bad behavior that will affect the women and baby’s health is smoking. “Smoking during pregnancy reduces the amount of oxygen that the baby receives and increases the risk of miscarriage, bleeding, and morning sickness” (Holt/Glencoe). Another example that is bad for the mother and baby is unfortunate for many, it’s caffeine. “Caffeine has been shown to affect fetal heart rates and awake time (fetuses grow when sleeping)” (Holt/Glencoe). Although there are many risks there are some important things to keep in mind, one of these is Prenatal Care. “Regular doctor visits are important to your baby’s development” (Holt/Glencoe). So it is very important for the mother to go to regular doctor visits to check on both her and the baby’s health.

Someone I know that was recently pregnant is actually my English teacher. Right now she is off on paternity league but before she had her baby it was giving her health problems. In class she had to stay seated and couldn’t walk as much. She had to take the elevator instead of the stairs. I feel like her having her baby brought her family together. When she told our class she was pregnant she seemed really happy and like she really wanted to start a family.
