They finish it and are congratulated by Hecate. Macbeth arrives and demands them to answer his questions.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Key Events:<br>The second biggest crime of Macbeths career, the murder of Banquo<br><br><br>Key Characters:<br>Macbeth, Banquo, Lady Macbeth, Murderers, <br><br><br>Key Quotations<br>"We have scorched the snake, not killed it;"<br>"As hounds and greyhounds, mongrels, spaniels, curs, Shoughs, water-rugs and Demi-wolves are clept"<br><br>Relevant Context:<br>In Shakespearean times it was a common belief that a mangled snake could recover from any injury of any form. It refers to the fact that Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have only scorched the snake, so the guilt for their actions will come back to haunt them forever.<br><br>Shakespeare is referring to dogs because he was very fond of dogs. Also the fact that dogs are typically known man's best friends, Macbeth believes his guards are like dogs as they are loyal and do whatever he asks of them.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br>Key Events:<br>Macbeth murders Duncan<br>Malcolm and donaldbain flee to england in fear of their life<br>Macbeth becomes king<br><br>Key Characters:<br>Banquo, Fleance, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Porter, Macduff, Lennox, Donaldbain, old man, Ross<br><br>Key Quotations:<br><br><br><br>Relevant Context:<br>Regicide -the killing of a king seen as one of the worst crimes to commit.<br>Divine right- king is god's messenger if he is born into the role of kingship&nbsp;<br>Natural order is disrupted when the king died showing it is against god's will and is not natural <br>King James as a patron of Shakespeare's theatre company the King's Men would have wanted things to go wrong for Macbeth after so no citizens got the idea to overthrow him.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>

Lady Macbeth plots to kill Duncan and influences Macbeth<br><br>Key Characters:<br>Three Witches&nbsp;<br>Duncan<br>Malcolm<br>Lady Macbeth<br><br><br><br>Key Quotations:<br>All hail Macbeth&nbsp;<br>Fair is foul and foul is fair&nbsp;<br>"Bellona's bridegroom" (describing Macbeth)<br>"Unsex me here" -&nbsp;<br><br><br>Relevant Context:<br>"Weird" links to the goddess of fate wyrd. The witches seem intelligent which was sinister for women at the time. "Nine" could be a supernatural number (a cat has nine lives). Killing the king goes against God - divine right. Growth in nature in the Bible e.g. "The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree," the righteous&nbsp;<br>King James book condemning the supernatural- Daemonologie<br>Gender Roles- the specific roles women were meant to play seen to be chosen from god- Lady Macbeth reject these&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
