You can't blow an uncertain trumpet."-Theodore M. The best leaders need to develop a certain tunnel vision about how they want their business to be positioned.

There are many qualities that make a good leader. The first one is organization, when you think of a leader you want someone who is organized and can lead your team or group efficiently. When someone can plan everything in an organized manner it makes for greater success since everything is organized properly. The second quality of a good leader is good collaboration skills. When working with a team or group is it important your leader can collaborate and listen to everyone’s ideas. To have an effective team you must allow everyone to share their ideas and have a say, therefore collaboration skills are important to ensure this. Finally, the last quality is creativity. Creativity in a leader can help a group thrive when coming up with a new idea. When you think of a leader you want someone who can come up with ideas and inspire the group. These three qualities are very important in a good leader.

When it comes to poor leadership qualities there is many that you should avoid. The first one being unreliable. Being a leader means you oversee leading the group or team to success, if you don’t show up or are inconsistent it will drag your group down and cause many issues. Your team should be able to count on you. The second quality that should be avoided is lack of communication. Communication is crucial in a group to get things done, having a leader who can’t communicate will create a roadblock for the team since nothing is getting discussed. Finally lack of ambition and creativity. Having a leader who lacks creativity can be an issue when coming up with ideas or plans for the group. The group or team will also feel unmotivated since their leader has no creative inspiration. Overall these are qualities that should be avoided when being a leader.

A good leadership quote is “Leadership is an action not a position”. This quote is telling people that to be a good leader you must show it through actions, not just a title.

This image is Martin Luther King Jr who is a great representation of a strong leader. He had great drive and intentions, he inspired others and sparked many movements.

Determination is very important for a leader because a leader has to show their employees or partners how to achieve goal in the business. Strong leaders consider the ethical consequences of the decisions that they make for both their customers and their teams. Leaders also have to be able to communicate to all audiences and be polite and understanding to their peers.

Three qualities that make a bad leader

Some qualities that a leader should not have might be.

A only my way mindset, poor communication skills, and not forward thinking. For a leader it is important to have an open mind towards all the ideas that are thrown your way. It’s also important that a leader can communicate well with everyone without that they will be very unsuccessful. Finally I leader has to look into the future and plan of how to get there surprises are not a good thing in business.

Quote: "My job is not to be easy on people. My job is to make them better."

This is a quote from Steve Jobs the founder of apple. He is a inspirational leader that I admire so much. One quality that Steve Jobs has that I said is that he if very well spoken. I have seen him on talk shows and he talks about how he communicates with employees and how he implements all there ideas. That’s very important for a leader and he does a wonderful job doing it

A leader should have be very patient. While leading a business you would want someone to be patient in situations and not lose their temper very easily. A leader should also make decisions as that is what they do to have their business succeed. They make final decisions that can help move

their business to succeed more. Lastly, a leader should be responsible. Leaders need to be working as hard as they can and making sure what they’re doing is for the greater good of the business and not just themselves.

A leader should not be dishonest. Leaders should be truthful when discussing any situations or problems they or the business is having. When a leader is honest the business can run more smoothly. A confident leader is very important. A leader needs to be confident in the decisions they’re making and not second guess themselves. Finally, a leader should not be uncooperative. If a leader can not cooperate with other people, that is not a good sign. They should be easy to work with and not make it difficult to work with them.

A leadership quote that personally resonates with me is this quote. “Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” – Dale Carnegie, author and motivational speaker. People have to go through many experiences, including failure to achieve greatness within their business. No one should expect success without failing or being unsuccessful at first. A good leader should learn from those failures and grow from them.

A leader I respect and admire is Greta Thunberg.

I admire her as a leader as she’s very confident in her goals for the future climate of our planet and she’s being very strong and patient while leading our world to a safer planet.

A good leader should focus on developing others and helping them reach their potential as a worker in the workplace. This can be done by motivating and inspiring others to improve their skills and seek personal development within the workplace. Having the ability to help others improve their skills will help the business grow further and allow for more “future” thinking.

Another good thing a leader should possess is great vision. Having good vision and being able to foresee what is happening in the workplace currently and what is going to be an issue in the future. Possessing this skill allows you to think forwardly and use your vision to create a plan that will better your business in the future.

One more good skill to have as a leader is being creative with your ideas and planning. Creativity as a leader enhances your ability to strategically plan for the future. Thinking outside the box in business is what is going to drive your business forward, and being creative enhances your ability to come up with these forward thinking and progressive ideas.

A bad leader would be someone who tends to avoid all sorts of conflict. Avoiding conflict as a leader holds your business back and does not allow it to overcome obstacles and progress. Whether this be conflict between co-workers, between external contacts and the business, between manager and employee, etc. If any of these types of conflict are avoided by a leader, it will surely limit the business to its success and the leader will not be driving the businesses progression forward.

A bad leader also does not take into account other’s ideas or suggestions to make a decision. This type of leader makes decisions on their own and believes that their way is the right way. Doing this also prevents the business from moving forward if it’s decisions are coming from one single person’s input. Having multiple sources of input allows for different perspectives to be acknowledged and for more progressive ideas to be created when collaborating.

One other aspect that makes someone a bad leader is not having good communication skills or a lack of them. Not being able to communicate effectively with your colleagues is something that also holds the business back as the leader is unable to effectively converse with its co-workers. This can cause many things to go wrong and actually put the business into decline if workers are not being communicated to properly. If they are not being communicated to properly, the workers have no way of knowing how to perform correctly or how to further the business because they cannot communicate with their leader.

“The biggest risk is not taking any risk.” - Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is someone I thoroughly admire as a leader as he has many unique leadership qualities that are very inclusive and motivating. The largest aspect of his leadership style that I admire is how he takes every single one of his worker’s ideas and suggestions into consideration and values them. No matter how qualified they are or who they are, he makes each one of his workers feel like they can share their thoughts and ideas and feel valued. One other thing he does is empower his employees and inspire them to use their valuable ideas and encourage them to think outside of the box and be creative. This is something I admire as he really values other’s opinions and ideas and he doesn’t only make decisions based on himself. The fact that he puts effort in to empower his employees and takes the time to consider his employee’s ideas shows incredible devotion to his workplace and incredible leadership.

Leaders must also be critical thinkers who can adapt on the spot and think of solutions to any unexpected problems they face. It is important for leaders to be patient as well because they need to work with their team and incorporate different perspectives and new ideas all together without getting frustrated or discrediting ideas because they do not see the benefits or efficacy.

Bad qualities

-Poor communication skills: Unable to clearly communicate ideas and projects and coordinate with team limits opportunity for cohesion amongst the team.

-Self centered: leaders need to be selfless and prioritize the wellbeing and encouragement of others to promote growth of the team.

-Avoiding conflict: avoiding any conflicts will lead to ineffective teamwork and delay problem solving amongst the team because there is no co-operation and active problem solving.

To me, a leader must have good qualities that regards to the employees and his dedication to work.

The first quality that a leader must have is respect towards the employees. Respect is something that people seek, including leaders. But a leader must also respect his employees, so that they are willing to keep moving forward, fix any mistakes they have made, etc. They should open up to everyone’s minds, whether they think similarly or differently, keep it respectful. Without respect, the employees would no longer respect their leaders, or their peers, which will negatively impact the company majorly. For those reasons, I believe that respect is something that a leader must obtain.

The second quality that a leader should have is, giving everyone the same amount of work. To me, it is not fair if someone has more or less work than average, unless they are falling behind, or ahead somehow. Those are the only exceptions I would make. Otherwise, everyone must always keep on the same pace, so that it is easier to be organized, and run things smoothly. Being organized is always a better option, and very important as well. Those are the reasons why I believe that leaders should have this quality.

The third and last quality that a leader should have, includes their motivation. To me, a good leader should set goals, because you can’t just let your employees work without purpose, otherwise what’s the point? I think you should set goals and expectations for their employees, for self improvement, and improvement for the company at the same time. It is a good learning opportunity, and a good mental exercise. I feel like this is better than just working plain, without motivation. I also have pride in various learning opportunities.

Now that I’ve explained the good qualities I think a leader should have, I will now explain the bad qualities I think a leader should not have.

Firstly, a leader should not be arrogant. It’s bad for morale, and it will negatively impact your employment openings. What I mean by that is, if your employee(s) quit because of a leader’s arrogance, then the employee(s) will most likely put a bad review on the leader, leading to having trouble finding new employees. Taking credit for all the work your employees has done is dirty, and disrespectful, and treating others like dirt just because you’re a leader is unacceptable. I simply cannot stand arrogance, it makes me question teamwork. For those reasons, I believe that is why a leader should not be arrogant.

Secondly, a leader should not be impatient. No matter what happened, or what he/she is going through, I believe as a leader, you must always keep it together, and focus. The employees looks up to the leader, and relies on them. If they see the leader impatient, or quick to anger, then that will mean that the employees will have to rush through the work. That is a bad thing, because you should not work at an unreasonable fasted-paced workplace. For those reasons, the leader should not lack patience towards anything related to his/her employees.
The leader that I admire the most is Barack Obama, for various reasons. Firstly I personally like the concept of black leadership, also, he possesses most of the qualities that I mentioned that makes a good leader, and more, which is why I admire him as a leader.

Padlet Assignment Leaders

Good Leadership Qualities:

Communication, I think that a leader's communication abilities are one if not the absolute most important quality for them to have. The role of the leader requires it as they are tasked with the responsibility of making sure everyone is on the same page and working together towards any given task. They are also responsible for maintaining good relations with everyone making them easily approachable and well liked amongst others.

Confidence, I believe that confidence is an important quality for a leader to have. Leaders are by definition trail-blazers as they pave the path for others to follow. Confidence is required as leaders need to back the decisions they make and be a beacon of inspiration for others. A team cannot function without a similar goal. It's a leader's place to help guide them to this path without casting doubt as a leader must fully support and take accountability for the major decisions.

Honesty, a quality that I personally value in a Leader. Leaders need to be able to talk to the people they work with even when the subject may be tough on some. I feel a leader’s ability to be honest with colleagues is important in creating a strengthened bond as sometimes people need to hear the truth in order to improve and grow as people. Providing that level of honesty will encourage others to do the same as it creates an environment where everyone can share thoughts in a kind and respectful manner.

Bad Leadership Qualities:

Conflict Avoidance, this is a bad trait that leaders can showcase. Contrary to Confidence conflict avoidance weakens a teams strength in regards to team unity and will most likely lead to disloyalty as they do nothing to resolve issues as they arise. This trait may leave some of the team feeling lost or upset as maybe the issue was in regards to a workplace conflict as the leader did nothing to settle the issue.

The “My way or the Highway” mindset, this is a very detrimental quality that a leader may possess as it strips the ability for a workplace to express new ideas, concepts and theories for things such as work processes, products and assignments. This mindset locks people in place and ultimately stalls productivity and is ultimately not a good quality.

Another bad quality of a leader would be being Self-Centered. Not only are these people very difficult to be around as they tend to be unbearable, they usually are too focused on themselves to make any critical observations or be open minded towards forward thinking ideas. This makes them a bad leader as things will likely be stuck in an old school mindset where what worked in the past will continue working because of the “I made it” mentality and no new and inspired ideas will be considered.

Admired Leader: Martin Luther King Jr.

~ “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Martin Luther King was not only an inspiration to the American population but to the entire world and stood up against the adversity the country was facing at the time. His words still echo even now as we face systemic racism as he lead many people to a much more understanding ideology of race. I personally admire MLK as I had to do an analysis piece on his speeches and the level of truth and confidence he had backing his words as well as his compassionate and gentle approach accumulates into a very well rounded and compelling speech. I reference this because this is also what made him a good leader and a beacon of hope and inspiration. He showed so many amazing qualities that define what being a good leader means and looks like. I feel the reputation he built for himself speaks to his leadership. Many people even through his passing still think and value his words and his mission. That is why I admire Martin Luther King.

Good Qualities of a Leader

There are many different qualities that make a good leader. These qualities help make leaders more effective and more efficient.

1. Innovative. Being innovative is a good quality all leaders should have because they need to be strategic and be able to come up with solutions to problems. They need to be able to “think outside the box”, and have a vision and a roadmap to achieve it. They need listen to other people’s ideas, encourage others to be creative and think differently, and challenge ideas and initiate change.

2. Listener. Leaders need to be good listeners because they need to be open to ideas – good and bad. It shows that they are approachable, considerate, inclusive, thoughtful and engaging. Listening is a communication skill that will also help build trust with people and shows that they are self-aware.

3. Open-minded. A leader should be open minded. Being open minded shows people that they are willing to listen and consider other people’s ideas and feedback. They are a team player, flexible, co-operative and collaborative. This quality is also good for leaders because it shows that they are also approachable and willing to listen to ideas, and to learn from successes and failures.

Bad Qualities of a Leader

There are some qualities that leaders should not have because it would make them ineffective.

1. Poor communication skills. A leader that has poor communication skills cannot communicate effectively. They are not able to share their ideas and vision, and cannot provide leadership in an effective way. People look to leaders for direction, goals and responsibility. If these cannot be communicated effectively, there is no leadership.

2. Close-minded. Leaders who are close-minded are unapproachable, self-centred and difficult to work with. They are not willing to consider other people’s ideas or feedback, or learn from their mistakes. They are not team players. They are not flexible, unco-operative and do not encourage collaboration, creativity or innovation amongst those to whom they should be leading.

3. Lack of accountability. Leaders need to own up to their mistakes and be accountable for their actions. If they are not accountable, they do not gain respect as a leader. They are consider untrustworthy and lack integrity. They word and actions cannot be trusted.

Leadership Quote

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. —Steve Jobs

This quote means something to me because it means that you need to think differently and creatively, and take risks in order to become a leader who others will look up to. You need to be different than everyone else.

The Leader I Admire

Bill Gates is innovative, visionary, transformational, passionate, open minded, knowledgeable, engaging, team player, and motivating.

The three qualities that make an excellent leader are empathy, adaptability, and communication skills. I had a manager that exhibited the characteristics and there was no shortage of people who loved working for her.
Empathy is a quality not talked about enough that is critically important for a successful leader. Strong feelings of empathy encourage attentive behavior from the leader that benefits the entire organization. By attentive, I do not mean obsessive or micromanaging, but that empathy pushes leaders to understand the root cause for issues such as low performance. This then allows leaders to better help their struggling employees to improve and excel. This characteristic also develops and builds relationships which makes work-life more fulfilling and manageable.
Adaptability is a required skill of a leader. Back at the beginning of the unit we learned that a leader is someone who takes a company into the future. Seeing as future change and hardship is inevitable, you must be flexible to succeed as a leader. At its core, adaptability is about having ready access to a range of behaviors and resources that enable leaders to shift and experiment as things change.
Last but not least, Communication skills. This is vital when leading as this is what allows one to share what they have and what they expect from others. miscommunication can spread like a tidal wave and lead to major consequences that take time and resources to fix, so communicating clearly is very important.

The qualities that make a bad leader are a disorganization/laziness, low self-esteem, and being self-centered.

Disorganization/laziness in a leader is disastrous. Leaders are signal senders to the rest of the team. Your demeanor and the example you set speaks volumes. being disorganized sends a negative image that breeds low trust in you and your capabilities. More so, if a leader is lazy and disorganized it sets an example that the workers follow. How can a company function when everyone does the bare minimum?
low self-esteem is detrimental for similar reasons as listed above. When leaders exhibit confidence they are sending a message to the team that they are positive in their ability to lead through daily challenges. Confidence in yourself makes it easier for other people to trust you. But if you are self-conscious, it sends the opposite message. If your team does not trust you or respect you, the organization slowly crumbles from the inside
being self-centered is the opposite of empathy. This quality damages work relationships and create negative motivation at work among your workers. Being self-centered makes people dislike you. If workers don't like their leader, they don't care to do a good job in their tasks for them, producing lower quality work.

"leader becomes great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others" - John Maxwell

A leader I admire is Steve Jobs. I like the way he leads his company. Instead of micro managing, he targets their need for self actualization and pushes his employees to be the best version of themselves. He is a skilled communicator and exhudes confidence. Not just confidence in his own ability to lead but confidence in his workers. Steve Jobs empire is built of trust and mutual respect. He speaks fo empathy to your workers and not just resolving every conflict with punishment (maybe the workers are under mental or physical strain). I would want my manager or leader to work the way steve does and thus I admire him and his work.

Leaders of business shouldn't be close minded rather be open minded and try to understand everything from a different perspective. His occasional stubbornness usually resulted in personal decisions for the better of the nation and while his early days were filled with doubt in his abilities, he had won over parliament and Britain and led the way to European victory in WWII.

|

“We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced.” Malala

Malala is someone that I have always admired ever since I read her book. I was so inspired by how she continues to stand up for woman’s education. She doesn’t want to be remembered as the girl who got shot she wants to be remembered for her courage and bravery to fight for her rights. Even at a young age she wants to make a difference and better the world.

Qualities of a good leader

- Leaders need to be positive motivators, they need to be able to influence others and encourage them instead of motivating others by scaring or yelling. Leaders need to be able to stay positive otherwise they will only bring everyone else down with them.

- Initiative is a very important quality needed for being a good leader. Leaders need to be the first ones to show up and the last ones to leave. This quality is significant because not only are you expected to complete the job but exceed expectations. Leaders with this skill will know their job inside and out and are not only able to in their job well but help others in the process

- Good communication skills a crucial to being a leader because any job that involves more than one person will run smoothly depending if people can effectively communicate. As the leader, you need to be able to tale charge and instruct others on what needs to be completed but not come off as barking orders. People need to feel comfortable being able to communicate with you as well.

Qualities of a bad leader

- Being self-centred and not caring about your employees will effect the over all work environment. Not caring about others will effect how they work. If one person is only caring about what they are doing, other people will copy and have have same mid set

- Lazy workers tend to not only poorly effect their job but other people’s jobs as well. In a team environment if one person is lazy doing their job that will effect others and make them work harder to pick up the slack

- If a leader is unorganized that will set off the work environment. People will be unsure of what needs to get done. If there is no organization that is when mistakes are made and people get angry.

^ I admire Nelson Mandela because he was a confident and kind leader, he was there to support and guide the people he worked alongside with, and I have a lot of respect for him.

Qualities that make or break a leader:
There are many qualities that can make a good leader, and example of this can be patience, a good leader is patient with their team and able to answer questions without getting easily annoyed. Another quality is someone who take accountability, whether that’s for their actions, or things they’ve committed to achieving, and their progress with it. Lastly, a good quality in a leader is someone with good communication skills, to be able to clearly and effectively communicate with your team members and get your point across properly in way that prevents miscommunication, is a very good trait in a leader.

Though being a good leader seems pretty simple, there’s also a few traits that you wouldn’t want to have, starting with arrogance. You don’t want an arrogant boss because you’ll just never want to work with them, listening to what they want done when assigning tasks, will feel like an obligation instead of a team effort. Next, someone who is self centered. Pretty straight forward, you can’t lead people if the only thing you’re ever concerned about it yourself. Lastly, someone who is close-minded. You need to be able to accept and/or explore new possibilities, and opinions that will inevitably differ from your own views.

“A successful person finds the right place for himself. But a successful leader finds the right place for others.” John C. Maxwell.

Good leadership qualities

1. Honesty, a quality that I for one value in a Leader. Leaders should have the option to converse with individuals they work with in any event when the subject might be hard on a few. I feel a leader's capacity to be straightforward with colleagues is significant in making a fortified bond as here and their individuals need to hear reality to improve and develop as individuals. Giving that degree of honesty will urge others to do likewise as it establishes an environment where everybody can share musings in a sort and aware way.

2. Communication, I imagine that a leader's communication abilities are one if not the absolute most significant quality for them to have. The job of the leader requires it as they are tasked with the responsibility of ensuring everybody is in total agreement and cooperating towards some random task. They are also responsible for keeping up with great relations with everybody making them easily agreeable and popular amongst others.

3. Confidence, I accept that confidence is a significant quality for a leader to have. Leaders are by definition pioneers as they clear the way for others to follow. Confidence is needed as leaders need to back the decisions they make and be a reference point of motivation for other people. A team can't work without a comparable objective. It's a leader's place to assist with directing them to this way without giving uncertainty a role as a leader should completely support and take responsibility for the significant decisions.

Bad leadership qualities

1. Self-Centered. Not exclusively are these individuals truly challenging to be around as they will, in general, be unendurable, they ordinarily are too centered around themselves to mention any basic objective facts or be receptive towards groundbreaking thoughts. This makes them a bad leader as things will probably be caught in an outdated outlook where what worked in the past will keep working as a result of the "I made it" mindset and no new and propelled thoughts will be thought of.

2. Conflict Avoidance is an awful characteristic that leaders can grandstand. Despite Confidence conflict avoidance debilitates a group's strength concerning group solidarity and will no doubt prompt traitorousness as they don't do anything to determine issues as they emerge. This characteristic might leave a portion of the group feeling lost or annoyed as possibly the issue was with respect to a working environment conflict as the pioneer never really settled the issue.

3. My Way or the Highway is an exceptionally impeding quality that a pioneer might have as it strips the capacity for a workplace to communicate novel thoughts, ideas, and theories for things, for example, work cycles, items, and tasks. This attitude secures individuals and eventually slows down usefulness and is at last, not decent quality.

Quote

"Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive leaders empower people to accomplish their goals."
