I believe one of my greatest virtues is loyalty. I know this because I see it in the friends that I choose. I have a small amount but they've been close with me for a very long time. I choose quality of quantity when it comes to friends and I that results in learning to be a loyal friend & overall person.

I can't think of a direct in class example of loyalty that we discussed in class. however the first example of loyalty in history that comes to my mind is the loyalty of Cleopatra to Marc Antony in their joint suicide after their loss at the Battle of Actium. Which could be easily turned into an "ethical argument." Was it really the right choice for her to go through with that decision with him?

2.) Describe the one of the worst vices you see in American society today.

I think one of the most prominent vices in American society today is Envy. Mostly I see it in my own age group. People will ostracize someone, or talk bad about them just because of the things that they have or even the people they hangout with. It seems weird to think about since its almost like the opposite of how you think it would be. But I've been seeing a lot more people bad talk others even just because their parents have money. It just doesn't make sense to me why their child is being treated differently because of something like that.

If I was to create an ideal society, what religion you choose to be would be up to your own beliefs, or if you have any at all. This is like our American Society, however I would hope that their would be less forms of intolerance among the different religions.

I think the worst problem in American Society is that people are so closed minded & opinionated. Majority of people care only about their own beliefs and are not ready to try and learn about another side. If people would just be open to communicate and understand that their are other beliefs other than their own, maybe we would actually get somewhere in our struggle to ends racism, sexism, homophobia, ect.

5.a) Select 2 individuals with whom you are most in philosophical agreement with and explain why.

The two people I'm going to list are people that I am currently in philosophical agreement with but it could easily change soon into the future. Halsey and Madison Beer are both popular singers/performers in most of the world right now. I was doing so research on all the protests that have been going on, and I say a lot of Twitter & Instagram posts about the Black Lives Matter movement. However, one article that I came across involved these two women. They were actually at the different protests in their areas helping people who had been tear gassed, or just actually joining in the (peaceful) sides of the protests. This really stuck out to me because of all the celebrities tweeting from their Beverly Hills mansions about how change need to happen, these two were actually out doing everything they could to make it change. There were of course other celebrities out protesting but Madison and Halsey stood out to me because they are singers that I listen to on a daily basis and could potentially be looked at as role-models for a lot of people my age.

Hitler & Stalin. I know these are not the most original people do this question about and its obvious why I'm not in ethical agreement with them but it was hard for me to come up with different people who I disagreed with on a topic other than current politics. I hate talking about politics because I feel like it just divides everyone so I decided to just take the easy way out on this one
Anyway Hitler and Stalin were completely blind on all of their views about people in general. This relates to the question of the worst problem in American Society. Maybe if they had been able to listen to someone other than themselves that could have had a change of heart but they couldn't because they were too caught up in the idea that they were right about anything and everything

6.) Provide YOUR definition of what happiness is.

In my opinion an important aspect of being completely happy in life is the ability to make the most out of nothing. You have to be able to be happy in many different scenarios before you can achieve complete happiness overall in your life. For example, being able to be okay with your own company. Not always being in a relationship, or with friends constantly. Another example is being happy in school. For me personally I absolutely hate school. It starts to early, there's way too much pressure for 14-18 year old's, some teachers make it their duty to make you dread their class. I think the entire system is dumb. Something I've tried to remember when I feel like that is that things are only what you make of them. I can come into school dreading every second of it complaining about everything and that's going to bring my mood down. Or I can go in, thinking about how I get to be surrounded by my friends all day long and try to make the most out of it. Its all about your attitude and outlook on life that determines your own happiness.

My cheer coach, her name is Holly and my Grandpa. My grandpa passed away almost 6 years ago now, but I know he made and still makes a huge impact on my life. He had a very strict outlook on life but only because he wanted us to grow up to be the best possible people we could be. I still find myself asking what he would want for me when I have to make decisions. With Holly I see a similar trend. She is the type of person to take no crap from people, but she is also very empathetic & supportive when she needs to be, which are character traits I hope to achieve in my own life.

8.) Finally, write a clear and concrete conclusion that summarizes your ethical philosophy.

I'm not really sure how to answer this but I guess my ethical philosophy would be mostly based off of virtues. If I go on google and look up a list of virtues, the words that I'm reading reflect the exact type of person I hope to be. I know that if you use examples of virtues in your daily life, making ethical decisions will be a lot easier because you have a solid foundation or structure, on what your choices should be based off of.
