How about breaking the larger assessment into smaller assessments, much like other courses are using. The assessment is a good one, and it would be a waste to eliminate it.

Pros of the current test:
-It makes gathering data for the slo super easy.
-This is a 1 period test, if not less. Completing the pre and post test takes 2 days max.
-The data is straightforward. It really isn't subjective.
Cons:
-A lot of teachers, especially those not familiar with tech ed, are just teaching to the test. The students might be missing out on the opportunities they should be getting in I&I.

If the process for using the CTE rubric is better than the current global scholar process more people will be open to using the rubric.

I think there are benefits to both the Rubric and the Test. The test helps to ensure that certain content area is covered, but it does lead to teaching to the test. The rubric allows for a more meaningful review of students, but can be very subjective. I do think that if there were multiple, shorter tests throughout the unit that it would be better as it can be very hard for 7th graders to try to remember something that was covered in August on a test that they are taking in late January.

I think it would be beneficial to have a bit of both assessments. MC: Assess what they may have memorized CTE Rubric may be a bit too subjective.

Not being familiar with the test, at least it is the same for everyone, and the data is the data, not subjective. You can only hope no one teaches to the test, but rather touches on every area.
