The reason why he made this artwork is this was the place that Monet thought that if he made his work here, it will become similar to the impressionism movement that he wanted to make. The reason this style is the impressionism movement is Monet made this work quickly by sketching and drawing what is happening in the sunrise at the Port of Le Havre. Monet used impasto paints to draw the boats, the sun, and its reflection in the water. Most of the motivation for the work was drawn by Joseph Mallord Willian Turner's which he drew "The sunset scarlet". Turner's painting uses only strong colors and only uses few colors.

The parasol also symbolizes protection. The main subject matter of this work is status, even though the Monet family wasn't very rich when Monet made this work.

He also used impasto paints. The subject matter of this work is to show the heat of the summer's day through the color of the wheat. This work can think to yourself of what he was thinking while he was making this piece.

The reason why he made this work is this work is because he was one of the members of The Blue Rider movement. He was a member for four years and he wanted to make a work that was similar to the blue rider which was made by the Der Blaue Reiter artists. This work uses dry brushes because the whole area of this painting is uneven which shows that Kandinsky painted over many times using dry paint that made broad brush strokes. The horse in the work represented creative energy, and the color blue is symbolizing the spiritual. The subject matter of this work is that we can move beyond what is represented by the rider.

This work is post-impressionism because post-impressionism work includes the use of vivid color. In this work, Rousseau used many different colors that were very dark and very light.

He created this image to make the poem that Carlos was making which is "The great figure". The drawing in this image has 3 figures are number 5. There is also some cubism in the mid-ground by some shapes and it looks like there are some mirrors in the mid-ground, and there were some shaped backgrounds that look like cubism. In the background, there is an image of the street with some buildings and lights. In this work, Demuth used oil paint, graphite, ink, and gold leaf on paperboard. The subject matter of this work includes fruits, plants, and landscapes and their names, written in the 1920s in commercial fonts and bold colors.

The reason why he made this work is Magritte wanted to overcome what he saw as the severe rationalism of bourgeois society. He is asking people about the conventions of language and visual representation. He is using different methods which include the misnaming of objects, doubling, repetition, and mirroring. The picture shows a pipe. Below it, Magritte wrote, "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" which is in French for "This is not a pipe." The painting is not a pipe, but it is an image of a pipe. Magritte's subject matter was to show a simple idea of society, which is easy to see through. Magritte combined the words and image in a unique way that he forced us to think about the meaning of the sentence and the word.

Also, abstract expressionism works are very big, and this image is huge compared to regular which is 116.2x88.9 cm. The subject matter of this work is this was made when Henri Matisse was near his death. He died 2 years later after he made this work. The Blue Nudes represent Matisse's last years and the end of his long creative journey. Singulart investigates the Blue Nudes and Matisse's discovery cut-out method in this piece.

In search of purity in the abstract form, Riley wanted to draw squares of her work. When she started to make it, she stated, "...as I sketched, things began to alter." She kept sketching and pushing forward intentionally. The squares started to lose their shape as seen on the image. In this image, Riley used a basic approach in her 1961 work which is lines of squares whose breadth reduces. Knowing how to achieve this trick doesn't take away from its impact on a picture. This work represents its beat brings out images of two shapes hitting, a kiss, or two flat surfaces collapsing into a disappearing line of touch. The subject matter of this work is the squares started to lose their shape. 'Movement in Squares' is made up of twelve rows of which is alternating in black and white squares. The height remains the same however the width gradually decreases.

The reason he made this work is he made this work at his home in Paris in response to the bombing of Guernica which happened on 26 April 1937. Basque village in northern Spain attacked Guernica at the request of the Spanish Nationalists which are by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. Guernica shows the horrors of war and the pain that it causes to humans, especially innocent civilians. It reminds us and makes us think about what kind of thing war is. It symbolizes anti-war and peace. In this work, Picasso mixes Cubist structures with a colorless palette, giving it a more realistic appearance. The subject matter of this work is, it's going against the war and saying it's terrible because Picasso made this to express his horror against war with Guernica.

The reason this is expressionism is Munch attempted to aim people's Expressionism movement by making up different figures that Munch thought himself and using pure colors in their work. In this work, Munch used impasto paints in the background. We can see it from thick borders of different colors in the sunset of this work. The subject matter of this work is love, pain, anxiety, jealously, and death which are all the feelings we have as humans.

After all, it is strange that there is a swirl in this work. Gogh drew what he could see,  and there is no chance there is a swirl in the sky. In this work, Gogh uses the impasto technique. It is a technique that artists put paint on the canvas and arrange it using their fingers. He also used a lot of rich blue and yellow in his works. This work is post-impressionism because it only uses a limited range of colors, short painterly brushstrokes, use artificial color palate, and focuses a lot on light. The subject matter of this work represents that the death of Gogh which he suicided is being symbolized by the cypress tree.
