Facts about AFM 

• is associated with having a prior viral infection due to which the CFC (Center for Disease Control & Prevention) has classified it under the division of viral diseases.
• AFM can occur in both adult and children but it 90% of all the cases are children. 
• There is no vaccine to prevent AFM and no specific way shave been found yet to prevent its onset.

Usually the individual is already suffering from a viral infection which then develops into AFM. AFM is still a new and rare disease found only a few years ago due to which the exact cause of the disease is still unknown and research is being conducted to better understand its cause.
