On first day they showed us the hight school where the laboratory technician studies are taught and the accompanied us to see the city and the hospital where we did the stay.

On second day they showed me the hematology and biochemistry laboratories.

Today they have done the same but in the microbiology and serology laboratories.

What i like and impressed most were the organizational devices and the analytical capacity of many samples at the same time.

It is the department of the laboratory that I like the most, the work is very manual so it is very entertaining.

I have plating samples on Blood Agar plates, staining bacteria and preparing the samples for MALDI. I have also seen the operation of Multiplex PCR which detects up the 14 pathogens in an hour and is used in emergency cases for diagnosis.

The day has been very entertaining, I hope one to work in a microbiology and molecular biology laboratory.

Today I spent the day in Piestany a city near Trnava. Anet and Marco, some a laboratory students from here, have taken me to see the hospital there and its hematology laboratory, the blood bank, where they perform blood group compatibility tests and the detection of antibodies, the biochemistry part, with routine determination and special ones such as vitamins, hormones, ions...

They we went to a private laboratory where the taught all the departments and again, the most lively one and the one I liked the most was microbiology and molecular biology, where they shown me for the first time a DNA extraction machine.

Finally, Anet and Marco, took me on a walk araund the city to get to know her.

Later we did chromatography for the same purpose.

We went the second part of the morning in the inmunology and allergy laboratory where I saw hope the performed an automated electrophoresis and I saw the flow cytometer work, being able to observe the results of the cell population in real time.

I loved this second part of the morning even though it was very fun and entertaining in general!

First we programmed the routine machines and the coagulometers and then we went to the blood bank, where I performed blood compatibility an antibodies detection test.

It has been very boring day, only the machines work in this part.

They took me the pathological anatomy section and I saw the entire process that is carried out with a biopsy of different parts of the body. I saw how the cut a prostate with cancer, a placenta from a spontaneous abortion, moles that were suspected to be melanomas...

I saw how they cut them with the microtome and how they stained them once they were on the slide.

I loved today because it has been very entertaining since everything was new to me.

They have also shown me the thymus of a kidney and numerous moles on the skin that will probably be confirmed after the analysis of the cells, that they are carcinomas.

I really liked these two days because in Spain I donˋt have opportunity to see these things as a laboratory technician.

I have seen a lot of machines and processes unkanow to me.

They have taught me their customs and culture and my English has improved as soon as I lost my shame.

I found it to be a very enriching experience and 100% recommended.
