One's connections have no small influence on their power.

This is proven by Stephano instantly recruiting Caliban with just some wine and a smile. Prospero could easily vaporize Stephano, even Caliban could likely decimate Stephano, but Stephano was kind to Caliban by sharing his wine and made himself seem worthy of Caliban's work by simply not being afraid of the storm. Caliban, upon receiving a taste of Stephano's wine, announced his thoughts on Stephano. "That's a brave god and bears celestial liquor. I will kneel to him" (Shakespeare, 2.2.121-122). No demonstration of rank was necessary, and the display of power was meager at best but Caliban chose to serve Stephano anyways.

This is demonstrated by Ferdinand managing to get Miranda to accept his marriage "proposal" within 6 minutes of legitimate introductions being exchanged. He simply convinced Miranda that she is absolutely amazing and that he is an incredible specimen (the likes of which Miranda has never seen before, as she has never seen a male within the same general stage of life) that marriage to would bring great benefits. Of course, Miranda thinks this to be an excellent offer (A guy AND royalty status on top of royalty status she doesn't know about? That's anywhere from triple to quintuple benefits!) and agrees, saying "I am your wife if you will marry me" (Shakespeare 3.1.100).
