Today's session was on teaching listening. At the beginning of the training, we played "Yes/no" game which was an attention getting activity for warm up. We discussed about how to overcome challenges when teaching listening.
Based on listening, we made posters and discussed how we could differentiate the activities according to the student levels.
Also, we practiced how to write listening lesson stages by evaluating and sharing ideas. Thanks to this task, I got many different activity ideas from my colleagues and trainers. I believe that I can adapt more appropriate activities to my coursebook and apply it in the classroom.
Lastly, however I don't have the opportunity of using the technology in my listening lessons, I catched new ideas to turn online activities into printout ones.

Today, we talked about speaking skill which is the most challenging one in my classroom. Unfortunately, I face with many challenges such as; anxiety, errors and indifference.
For these problems, we did an activity called as "Gallery Work." The problems were hung on the wall. We discussed and shared ideas about the solutions in groups. As we discussed, the most common problem is that the students don't have enough confidence to speak. To overcome this challenge, I need to correct their errors at the right time and with the most appropriate technique. The way I monitor them is important. I should monitor them without they realize. For error correction, I have learnt a simple technique "Third finger. " For sure, I will apply in my class. Another way can be integrating the technology in speaking. We used "Flip" application. Thanks to this technique, the students have the chance to have time for preparation. So they will be more confident in using the language. I will definitely integrate the technology in my class to overcome the common problem.
Another activity I will use is "Paper Slide" As I realized today, It works great for the low-tech.

Today, I've got an idea of using "Flipped Learning" for reading skill. When I think of my classes, unfortunately the students have English classes for a few hours in a week. Reading in the classroom takes time, as well. So using Flipped Learning will help my students to get prepared for the text and complete some tasks. Having the tasks on digital media, the students can develop their autonomous learning skills. Also, it's very helpful for the students who are absent. I think I can use this type of learning confidently in my class with the support of the parents.
In the reading lesson, using the right task in the right stage can be challenging for my colleagues. As a facilitator, I am going to highlight the importance of the stages and share the appropriate tasks. Also, I will mention about the sub-skills as getting know them and do them in order is very effective for good reading skill.

In today's session, we talked about writing approaches which are product and process. As I experienced, the students are not enough confident in writing in my context. To overcome this feeling, I would first use product approach because the students have a model text that could encourage them and they have a chance to analyse main features such as vocabulary and grammar. If the content is simple based on the task, I would use Process writing in which the students can use the language not only individually but also in groups. So that means we can use it for the weak students because they get the help from their peers. While teaching writing, effective feedback is a great way to use the skill. I will definitely point out the importance in my PDC meeting. After writing work, saying something positive will encourage the students. So we should be positive. Another suggestion would be that we shouldn't correct all the mistakes but keywords. While giving feedback the order must be individual, peer and lastly teacher correction. Using correction symbols is also useful.

Today, we discussed about Grammar teaching. We can teach grammar in two ways; implicitly and explicitly. I think teaching implicitly is more effective because the students discover the form and meaning by themselves. In my context, many teachers give the form directly but as I observed, the students assume the language as a set of rules. So it's not useful in our area. We should create a meaningful learning atmosphere.
When it comes to my PDC meeting, I will definitely suggest to my colleagues to use Flipped Grammar. It is a great way to save the time. The students are prepared for the language before they come to the class. In order to use this technique, I will share "Loom" application in which the teacher can record the videos and share the content.
Moreover, I will share the stages of teaching grammar implicitly as inductive teaching helps cognitive learning.

While teaching vocabulary, one of the most effective way is teaching it in stages. The first would be eliciting which means making the students find the word. Then, checking the meaning and drilling the word. The next step would be pronunciating the word. Lastly, write the word on the board and explain the form.
The other suggestion is differentiation the activities according to the students level and interests. Also, some applications such as; Kahoot, Quiziz, Wordwall can be used for integrating the technology.
When I make my students use vocabulary notebooks, I usually tell them to write the meaning of the word with its synonym or antonym. Also, they should know what type of word it is. Lastly, I tell them to make sentences with newly learned words. In this way, they use the word actively.

In today session's session, we talked about the the types of assessment. Unfortunately, the students language progress are not objectively assessed in my area. They are usually expected to take the exams and get high grades. That's why the results are important for the manager and the parents. Mostly, summative assessment is done. Of course we have some reasons for that. First of all, the class hours that are taken for learning English is limited. As thinking an easy way, the teachers do test. Also, the students level are evaluated by the exams because of the educational system.
As an English teacher, I am hopeful to vary the ways of assessment. Self/ peer assessment can be very effective if it is done with the right technique. Another way could be Language Portfolios and Learner Diaries. I definitely find them very productive as they are related to formative assessment in which the student's language process is assessed.

Today, we talked about the roles of a facilitator and how I could benefit from PDCs session.
When I hold a meeting with my colleagues in my local context, I will be confident because I had a great chance to refresh my knowledge, to share my ideas and to meet with experienced teachers. Also, being tutored by the trainees helped me to see my weaknesses and I could improve them. As I created a friendly network with my colleagues, I will keep in touch with them. Before or after I establish a PDC, I will share my ideas and questions comfortablely.
Also, we have done almost everything practically in PDC session. So I remember most of the things clearly and I believe that I can apply them in my teaching context.
