The quote that I want to share is really meaningful for me. It says, " Our house would be white with trees around it, a great big yard and grass growing without a fence". This quote is located in the title " The house on Mango Street" (page 4). This quote is special for me because when I was little my I saw that my father worked really hard, and I remember that we lived in a house no so pretty. So, he one day when he arrived of the work very late he said me, I will work very hard so that we have a beautiful house where your mom, you, and me can live happy and feel comfortable. That's work I will remember for all my whole life.

I think this quote is special because Esperanza shows us that she appreciate her mother through her words describing mother's hair. It connect to me own life by feeling the same appreciation and admiration for my mother in all aspects. My question is Why Louie's parents send her back with her mother?

From "Laughter" (page 20), I found a sentence is, "Nenny and I don't like sisters.....But me and Nenny, we are more alike than you would know. Our laughter for example. Not the shy ice cream bell's giggle of Rachel and Lucy's family, but all of a sudden and surprised like a pile of dishes breaking." I think this quote is special because I can't imagine how a person sudden and surprised like a pile of dishes breaking. This connected to my life, because I also have a sister( she is older than me). Then our voice and the way to talk is extremely similar. Based on what I read so far, I was curios about why caused the author family's hair different.

They think it's funny. They are without respect for all things living, including themselves." I think this quote is important because I also encountered children like this in real life. Because I have a little cousin who made troubles to me, and he still can laugh when he did that those things, which made me annoying. I am curious about why the story have different section and talking about different things.

On page 78, it writes," Here a pillar of bees and this a mattress of luxury." This sentence is a metaphor. It literally means a large group of bees gather together. The author use it because the bees formed a pillar is the normal things we can see in the life, and can help reader better understand what is the situation, a better imagination makes the story more powerful.

On page 84, it writes," But she never comes inside the stores and if she does she keeps looking around her, like a wild animal in a house for the first time." It literally means Ruthie was curious about things in the store. The author uses this because she doesn't like the action that Ruthie do in the store. The way it makes the story more stronger is that the author uses the wild animal to describe Ruthie, makes us easier to imagine how does Ruthie look like then.

On the page 66-67, it writes," I guess it was the time for the night.....he grabs my face with both hands and kisses me hard on the mouth and doesn't let go." The quote connects to the theme because it's the first job experience for the author when she was growing, and this experience will tell her some important lesson in her life, which makes her to grow up. The quote is conflict ( character vs. character), it applies because that is the farce between the author and the Oriental man . Even though she wants to kisses one time, but the man force her to kissed by him for a long time.

On page 84, "The moon is beautiful like a balloon." This is a simile. The literal meaning of this sentence is the moon is a full moon and it is compared to balloons because balloons have a good circle shape.

The author used it because the author wanted to make the reader interested and make better imagination of that.

On page 79, "be careful of the evil eye" this is hyperbole. The literal meaning of this is be careful of bad luck/ stay away from bad luck, so it doesn't mean that evil eye. The author used that because this is an expression that people believe and says when it's about bad luck, so that would make the reader understand easily.

On page 69, "I'm the oldest, my father has to tell me first, and now it is my turn to tell the others..." The quote connects to the theme because she is the oldest and she is the mature one and also, has to take care of her young siblings and take some responsibility, for the author when she was growing and at this moment she realized that she is growing and taking responsibilities and this message in her life, which shows her that she is growing up. The quote is point of view, because this is the first person and we can see the key word is "I am".

On page 88, it says, "The little wooden door that has wedged shut the dark for so long opens with a sigh and lets out a breath of mold and dampness, like books that have been left out in the rain.". This sentence is a type of personification and simile. The literal meaning is that the door makes a sound when it opens, and a bad smell of mold and wet air comes out. It is compared to wet books.
